D41287FEFF84FF9B49FDFEF3FDA1FF78.taxon	discussion	Remarks. The new species is similar to Parasecia fundata (Brennan, 1969) but differs from it in a wider scutum (AW = 65 – 68 vs. 49 – 55, PW = 77 – 79 vs. 61 – 62, and SB = 32 – 35 vs. 22 – 24), a lesser number of idiosomal setae (VS = 12 – 13 vs. 17 – 22, and NDV = 34 – 35 vs. 39 – 44), and shorter PL setae (34 – 36 vs. 41 – 50). The above comparison was based on the original description of P. fundata (Brennan 1969) and our measurements of 2 specimens of this species collected in Costa Rica (ZIN collection Nos. 7069 and 7083). Collection data of this material were given by Stekolnikov et al. (2007). The new species moreover differs from Costa Rican specimens of P. fundata in P-PL = 14 – 16 vs. 11 – 12 and in somewhat longer legs (Ip = 736 – 769 vs. 675 and TaIIIL = 63 – 65 vs. 52 – 56). However, these measurements were not reported for the type series of P. fundata; therefore, their taxonomic significance is unclear. Additional material of P. m o l i ni differs from the type series in a somewhat wider scutum (AW, PW), slightly shorter scutal and idiosomal setae (AM – V max), and in slightly shorter legs (pa, pp, Ip) (Table 3). Moreover, 2 of 3 specimens in this material (Nos. 8526 and 8527) have fPp = B / B / BBB vs. B / B / NNB in the type series. We consider these differences to be intraspecific.	en	Stekolnikov, Alexandr A., González-Acuña, Daniel (2015): A review of Chilean chiggers (Acari: Trombiculidae), with the description of a new genus and ten new species. D41287FEFF9BFF9949FDFE1AFAEDFEB2.taxon	discussion	Remarks. Paratrombicula philippii sp. nov. is the first known Paratrombicula species having mastitarsala. However, this seta is ciliated in P. philippii and therefore can be regarded as a typical tactile seta. By the presence of 2 genualae I, P. philippii differs from all other Paratrombicula (having only 1 genuala I) except P. goff i Stekolnikov and González-Acuña, 2012, in which some part of examined specimens has 2 or 1 / 2 genualae I. Moreover, the new species is very close to P. goffi by the measurable characters and differs from it in the presence of 7 – 9 setae in 2 nd and 3 rd rows of dorsal idiosomal setae vs. 6, larger number of idiosomal setae (DS = 37 – 38 vs. 28 – 32, VS = 30 vs. 20 – 26, NDV = 67 – 68 vs. 50 – 57), and in slightly shorter legs (Ip = 700 – 716 vs. 725 – 765).	en	Stekolnikov, Alexandr A., González-Acuña, Daniel (2015): A review of Chilean chiggers (Acari: Trombiculidae), with the description of a new genus and ten new species. D41287FEFF90FF9049FDFC5BFDB7F9DE.taxon	discussion	Remarks. Authors of the original description received the single specimen of this chigger from Fritz S. Lukoschus (Katholieke Universiteit Nijmegen, the Netherlands). The only collectional data they provided were as follows: “ Holotype from CHILE, Zelebor, ex Octodon degus ” (Brennan & Goff 1978). Obviously, “ Zelebor ” is not a geographic term, but the collector’s name. Austrian naturalist Johann Zelebor participated in the Novara Expedition organized by Austrian Empire in 1857 – 1859 (Wurzbach 1890). This round-the-world mission stayed in the Chilean port Valparaíso from 17 April to 11 May 1859 (Scherzer 1863), where Zelebor could have obtained a specimen of degu. The range of this rodent species is characterized as “ Chile, west slope of the Andes between Vallenar and Curico ” (Wilson & Reeder 2005); this territory includes parts of Atacama, Coquimbo, Valparaíso, O’Higgins, and Maule Regions. Undoubtedly, the chigger mite was collected from this rodent in a museum by Lukoschus, more than a century later.	en	Stekolnikov, Alexandr A., González-Acuña, Daniel (2015): A review of Chilean chiggers (Acari: Trombiculidae), with the description of a new genus and ten new species. D41287FEFF90FF9149FDF928FE2BFE59.taxon	discussion	Remarks. Trombicula macrochaeta Brennan and Jones, 1961 was described by 3 specimens (holotype and 2 paratypes) with broken sensilla. This defect resulted in erroneous identification of the tribe this species belongs to. Vercammen-Grandjean (1965 a) placed it in the species group kallipygos within the genus Guntherana Womersley and Heaslip, 1943, implying that this species should have expanded sensilla, as all members of Schoengastiini. Thorough examination of the description led us to the conclusion that this species undoubtedly belongs to the genus Proschoengastia.	en	Stekolnikov, Alexandr A., González-Acuña, Daniel (2015): A review of Chilean chiggers (Acari: Trombiculidae), with the description of a new genus and ten new species. D41287FEFF95FF9549FDFAD5FCC7F963.taxon	discussion	Remarks. Differences by quantitative traits in the material examined are significant (Ip 581 – 794, NDV 57 – 110), but size of the material was insufficient to divide it by species reliably using morphometric characters. Moreover, most of specimens were engorged or damaged; therefore, some important morphological traits (such as the presence of tracheae, chaetom of palps, etc.) could not be recorded in each specimen. Thus, we should postpone the exact identification of Chilean Morelacarus for the future.	en	Stekolnikov, Alexandr A., González-Acuña, Daniel (2015): A review of Chilean chiggers (Acari: Trombiculidae), with the description of a new genus and ten new species. D41287FEFFA8FFAE49FDFB2EFA16FE7E.taxon	etymology	Etymology. “ Camanchaca ” is a Spanish word derived from the Aymaran “ kamanchaka ” (darkness), which means specific cloud banks characteristic for the region of Fray Jorge National Park. D41287FEFFA8FFAE49FDFB2EFA16FE7E.taxon	discussion	Remarks. The new species is similar to Morelacarus jorgei sp. nov. and differs from it in the presence of nude lateral and ventral palpal tibial setae (fPp = B / B / BNN vs. B / B / BBB in M. jorgei), presence of mastitarsala on leg tarsus III, lesser number of idiosomal setae (fD = 2 H- [6 - 4] - 6 - 8 - 8 (6) - 4 vs. [8 - 4] - 6 - 8 - 8 - 4 - 2, DS = 36 – 38 vs. 42, VS = 19 – 22 vs. 23 – 29, and NDV = 57 – 60 vs. 65 – 71 in M. jorgei), in shorter PLs and dorsal idiosomal setae (PL = 21 vs. 27 – 28, H = 23 – 24 vs. 30 – 32, and D max = 21 – 25 vs. 27 – 29), PL = AL = AM vs. PL> AL> AM, and in slightly more numerous branches of sensilla (12 – 14 vs. 8 – 10). All above differences (except the last one) can be summarized as a lesser “ hirsuteness ” (i. e. lesser number of setae or branches of setae, or lesser length of setae) in M. camanchaca, as compared with M. jorgei. Thus, mastitarsala in M. camanchaca is homologous to an unspecialized tactile seta in M. jorgei, from which it differs in the lesser number of cilia and thin, whip-like distal part. Therefore, M. camanchaca could be an intraspecific form of M. jorgei; its status should be clarified using more extensive material and possibly molecular methods. The whole sample of Morelacarus collected in the Fray Jorge National Park, except 9 specimens of M. jorgei and 3 specimens of M. camanchaca, includes 6 unidentified specimens of poor quality ex L. platei No. IV 136 (27).	en	Stekolnikov, Alexandr A., González-Acuña, Daniel (2015): A review of Chilean chiggers (Acari: Trombiculidae), with the description of a new genus and ten new species. D41287FEFFACFFAC49FDFCA6FB1EF909.taxon	discussion	Remarks. Palpal setation is variable (fPp = B / B / bNN, B / B / BNb). Presence of mastitarsala could not be established with confidence. Arrangement of dorsal idiosomal setae is variable (2 H- [6 - 4] - 6 - 10 - 8 - 5 - 2, 2 H- [9 - 4] - 6 - 9 - 8 - 4 - 2, 2 H- [8 - 5] - 6 - 8 - 7 - 4). Scutum is somewhat larger than in M. jorgei and M. camanchaca, AM and AL longer, legs much longer (Ip = 693 – 718 vs. 581 – 643). One specimen (8518) has somewhat longer scutum and setae, much longer legs and more numerous idiosomal setae, than other specimens. Its traits are as follows: fPp = B / B / bbb, fD = 2 H- [8 - 8] - 12 - 10 - 9 - 6 - 4, S 1 = 12, S 2 = 18, AW 49, PW 64, SB 22, ASB 25, PSB 20, SD 45, P-PL 25, AP 18, AL 28, PL 31, S 64, H 36, D min 23, D max 31, V min 22, V max 32, pa 279, pm 245, pp 270, Ip 794, DS 59, VS 39 NDV 98, TaIIIL 72, TaIIIW 13.	en	Stekolnikov, Alexandr A., González-Acuña, Daniel (2015): A review of Chilean chiggers (Acari: Trombiculidae), with the description of a new genus and ten new species.
