It was reported in Italy on M. cephalus (Richiardi 1880), M. saliens (Liza saliens) (Valle 1880), M. capito (Liza ramado) and M. chelo (Chelon labrosus) (Brian 1906), Egypt on M. cephalus (Wilson 1923), Israel on M. cephalus (Roberts 1970), Tunisia on M. cephalus, Liza aurata, L. ramada, L. saliens (Raibaut et al. 1975), M. cephalus, L. aurata, Liza ramada (Liza ramado), L. saliens, Alosa fallax (A. fallax fallax), Barbus barbus, Solea solea, Anguilla anguilla (Raibaut &amp; Ben Hassine 1977), Belone belone, Solea vulgaris (S. solea), Anguilla anguilla, Alosa fallax fallax and B. barbus (Ben Hassine 1981), Tunisia and France on mullets (Ben Hassine 1983). Ergasilus lizae was also found in the Adriatic (Montenegro) where it parasitizes M. cephalus, Chelon labrosus, Liza (Liza) aurata (L. aurata), L. (L.) ramada (L. ramado) (Radujkovic &amp; Raibaut 1987, 1989). In the Mediterranean, it was in particular found in Italy on Maena vulgaris (Spicara maena) (Brian 1912), Spain on Lithognathus mormyrus and B. boops (Zuniga &amp; Suau 1967), Tunisia on Diplodus annularis (Seurat 1934), Chrysophrys aurata (Sparus aurata), Spicara smaris, Dentex filosus (D. gibbosus) (Raibaut et al. 1971), Liza saliens, Chelon labrosus (Raibaut &amp; Ben Hassine 1977; Ben Hassine 1983), B. boops, Pagellus erythrinus and S. aurata (Benmansour &amp; Ben Hassine 1997), Turkey on Diplodus vulgaris (Öktener &amp; Trilles 2004b); it was also reported on Scorpaena scrofa, Serranus scriba, S. cabrilla, Pseudocaranx dentex and Mugil cephalus (Raibaut et al 1998). It was also reported from Engraulis encrasicolus (Raibaut et al. 1998).
