CD3E87B8FFFAA453FF73B79E10F32E7B.taxon	discussion	Remarks: This species is similar to M. kizylkumi (Rohdendorf), but recognized by the blackish first antennal flagellomere (red in M. kizylkumi) (Fig. 1 C, D). We have not had access to specimens for comparisons, and the taxonomic decision is based on comparisons with the description of M. kizylkumi given by Rohdendorf (1930). There is no modern taxonomic revision of Miltogramma, which in the broad sense of Pape (1996) contains more than one hundred species with the center of diversity in the dry, warm-temperate parts of Asia from the Caspian Sea to northern China and Mongolia.	en	Zhang, Dong, Zhang, Ming, Li, Zijuan, Pape, Thomas (2015): The Sarcophagidae (Insecta: Diptera) described by Chien-ming Chao and Xue-zhong Zhang. CD3E87B8FFFDA45EFF73B67C12B22E0F.taxon	discussion	Remarks: Metopia auripulvera resembles M. campestris (Fallén) and M. pollenia Chao & Zhang, but males can be distinguished from both of these species by the absence of the elongated, slender bristles posteriorly on fore tarsomeres 1 – 4. The species may be even more similar to M. grandii Venturi, but can be distinguished by the presence of one sub-median ventral bristle on mid tibia as well as by details of the male terminalia. Metopia auripulvera has a more slender surstylus and an anteriorly curved, parallel-sided acrophallus, while M. grandii has a more robust surstylus and the acrophallus slanting posteriorly and with a subapical constriction (compare Chao & Zhang, 1988 a: fig. 15 b with Pape, 1987: figs. 150, 152).	en	Zhang, Dong, Zhang, Ming, Li, Zijuan, Pape, Thomas (2015): The Sarcophagidae (Insecta: Diptera) described by Chien-ming Chao and Xue-zhong Zhang. CD3E87B8FFF0A45CFF73B6D1136F2F9F.taxon	discussion	Remarks: This species is similar to M. campestris (Fallén) in general habitus and apparent with identically shaped specialised setae of the fore tarsi. However, the marked differences in the male terminalia are here considered as strong evidence of a specific separation. The phallus of M. pollenia widens apically into a very broad opening (phallotreme), so that the greatest width of the phallus is at the very tip (Fig. 5 B, also Chao & Zhang, 1988 a: fig. 14 b). The phallus of M. campestris is not particularly widened at the tip, which is much narrower than the width at the level of the ventral plates (see Allen, 1926, fig. 2; Pape, 1987, fig. 149).	en	Zhang, Dong, Zhang, Ming, Li, Zijuan, Pape, Thomas (2015): The Sarcophagidae (Insecta: Diptera) described by Chien-ming Chao and Xue-zhong Zhang. CD3E87B8FFF5A459FF73B7B110EC2D5C.taxon	discussion	Remarks: According to Chao & Zhang (1988 a) and Fan (1992), this species resembles M. asiatica Rohdendorf in general appearance, but can be distinguished from it by having two lateral black spots on each of tergites 3 and 4, the length of tarsomere 5 longer than tarsomeres 3 + 4, frontal bristles denser and thinner in upper part, parafacial with slender black setae, and head reddish yellow, covered with yellow pollinosity. As mentioned under M. albifrons above, there is no modern revisionary work on the genus Miltogramma, and there is in particular a strong need for high-quality documentation (photos, SEM) of the male fore tarsus from different angles to show the often highly diagnostic, species-specific setal configuration. Males in the group of species often separated as subgenus Stephanodactylum Rohdendorf have a tuft of particularly long setae on the fourth tarsomere, but illustrations currently available in the literature are few and inconclusive. In M. varia Verves, this tuft appears to be dorsal (Verves, 1984, fig. 9), not lateral as in M. bimaculata (Fig. 8 F) and M. punctata (Rohdendorf, 1930, fig. 39; Séguy, 1941, fig. 382; Pape, 1987, fig. 26; Povolný & Verves, 1997, fig. 35). Unfortunately, the male fore tarsus of other members of this species group has never been documented, and specimens of all species except M. punctata Meigen are rare in collections and have not been available for the present study. Miltogramma bimaculata has sparse setulae in the upper part of the parafacial, while this plate is bare in M. punctata. Also, the abdominal pattern of M. bimaculata with yellow lateral markings is not found in M. punctata. However, the abdominal pattern of M. asiatica was described by Rohdendorf (1930: 35) to be very similar: “ Abdomen dunkel, an den Seiten des 2., 3. und 4. Tergits gelblich, 2. Tergit mit deutlichem schwarzen Mittelfleck und mit undeutlich abgegrenzten Seitenflecken von lichtbrauner bis schwarzbrauner Farbe. ” [Abdomen dark, laterally on 2 nd, 3 rd and 4 th tergites yellowish, 2 nd tergite with distinct black central spot and with indistinctly delimited lateral spots of light brown to blackish brown colour]. We suspect that M. bimaculata is a junior synonym of M. asiatica, but as we consider the present evidence as inconclusive we prefer to keep M. bimaculata as a valid species until thorough comparative studies can be undertaken.	en	Zhang, Dong, Zhang, Ming, Li, Zijuan, Pape, Thomas (2015): The Sarcophagidae (Insecta: Diptera) described by Chien-ming Chao and Xue-zhong Zhang. CD3E87B8FFF7A447FF73B56E14B92E9E.taxon	discussion	Remarks: Pape (1996) argued for considering Miltogramma as of feminine gender, and this is followed here. Chao & Zhang (1988 a) did not provide an explicit etymology for the name “ tibitum ”, but judging from the vernacular name given (“ miltogrammine flesh fly from Tibet ”), we consider the name as a Latin adjectival form relating to the type locality Xizang (= Tibet) and meaning ‘ Tibetan’ or ‘ of Tibet’. We have accordingly made the associated change in the gender ending of the specific epithet to “ tibita ”. Following the key of Rohdendorf (1930), M. tibita belongs to the subgenus Miltogrammidium Rohdendorf because of the narrow frons with parallel frontal vitta, a rounded head profile and the abdominal pattern. We consider M. tibita and M. taeniata to be conspecific due to the shared yellowish pollinosity of the head, dark antennal segments, striped pattern of thorax and banded pattern of abdomen, and in particular the setal configuration of the male fore tarsus with each of tarsomeres 2 – 4 of fore tarsus with a pair of long, straight, dorsal bristles of decreasing length distally (compare Rohdendorf 1935, fig. 52 with Chao & Zhang 1988 a, fig. 7 b). M. taeniata is herewith reported from China for the first time.	en	Zhang, Dong, Zhang, Ming, Li, Zijuan, Pape, Thomas (2015): The Sarcophagidae (Insecta: Diptera) described by Chien-ming Chao and Xue-zhong Zhang. CD3E87B8FFE0A44CFF73B2EA15AC296C.taxon	discussion	Remarks: Specimens of S. stelviana examined for the present study do not differ from the types of S. mesomelaenae and are synonymized here because the modified male fore tarsi and genitalia appear to be identical. Hence, S. stelviana is herewith reported from China for the first time. Rohdendorf (1971) put considerable taxonomic weight on the relative development of the presutural acrostichal bristles at both subgeneric and species level. Thus, the differences given to separate S. stelviana from his S. altajica were partly the presence of welldeveloped but irregular presutural acrostichals in the former, and partly from differences in the setal tuft of the first tarsomere of the male fore tarsus: a loose tuft of curved setae in S. stelviana, versus a more compact tuft of straight setae in S. altajica. The material examined for the present work is not very extensive, but it presents a variation fully connecting the two morpho-types outlined by Rohdendorf (1971), which is here considered support for the proposed synonymies.	en	Zhang, Dong, Zhang, Ming, Li, Zijuan, Pape, Thomas (2015): The Sarcophagidae (Insecta: Diptera) described by Chien-ming Chao and Xue-zhong Zhang. CD3E87B8FFE2A44AFF73B17314132A34.taxon	discussion	Remarks: Chao & Zhang (1988 a) compared this species with P. fasciata (Meigen), but the male terminalia are so different that a confusion is hardly possible (see Rohdendorf, 1935, fig. 65; Povolný & Verves, 1997, fig. 14). Comparisons with habitus photographs and illustrations of terminalia provided for species of Protomiltogramma described recently (Kurahashi & Chaiwong, 2007; Kurahashi & Leh, 2008) also support considering P. yunnanica as a valid species. Chao & Zhang (1988 a) has two original spellings of the species epithet: yunnanica (p. 279, 287) and yunnaniac (p. 279, in figure caption). We consider the latter to be a simple error, which is in agreement with the use of the spelling Protomiltogramma yunnanicum by Xue & Chao (1998: 1555). In more formal terms the latter may be considered as a First Reviser action under Article 24.2.4 of the International Code of Zoological Nomenclature (ICZN, 1999), where Chao as the original author by using only one of the two original spellings of the species epithet selected Thereomyia yunnanica to be the correct original spelling.	en	Zhang, Dong, Zhang, Ming, Li, Zijuan, Pape, Thomas (2015): The Sarcophagidae (Insecta: Diptera) described by Chien-ming Chao and Xue-zhong Zhang. CD3E87B8FFE4A448FF73B2C510972AD9.taxon	discussion	Remarks: Pape (1992) redefined the genus Agria based on the paired distiphallic arms slanting from an apical insertion point towards the base of the acrophallus and a strongly tapering acrophallus. Because A. xiangchengensis does not possess these features, Pape (1996) cataloged it under “ Unplaced species-group taxa of Paramacronychiinae ”. Verves (2001) subsequently accommodated A. xiangchengensis in a monotypic genus Mimagria. Zhang et al. (2013) provided further morphological details for Agria and supported the exclusion of xiangchengensis from this genus. We accept Mimagria as a valid genus with close affinities to Agria, awaiting further studies on the generic phylogeny of the Paramacronychiinae.	en	Zhang, Dong, Zhang, Ming, Li, Zijuan, Pape, Thomas (2015): The Sarcophagidae (Insecta: Diptera) described by Chien-ming Chao and Xue-zhong Zhang. CD3E87B8FFE6A477FF73B11F10362963.taxon	discussion	Remarks: The location name of “ Rewu [½ ¾] ” was incorrectly spelled as “ Reniao [½ ⅓] ” in Chinese handwriting on the labels of the type series. This species resembles B. devia (Fallén) in general appearance, but can be distinguished from it by the more blackish appearance, thinner grayish white pollinosity posteriorly on tergites 3 and 4 without any demarcated stripe or spots, male cercus longer and more slender, surstylus curved posteriorly, pregonite gradually tapering, and phallus longer and apically straight. Chao & Zhang (1988 a) used the spelling Brachycoma, which is an incorrect subsequent spelling of Brachicoma (Pape, 1996; O’Hara et al., 2011).	en	Zhang, Dong, Zhang, Ming, Li, Zijuan, Pape, Thomas (2015): The Sarcophagidae (Insecta: Diptera) described by Chien-ming Chao and Xue-zhong Zhang. CD3E87B8FFD9A475FF73B17315EA2859.taxon	discussion	Remarks: The genus Sarcophila Rondani has proven to be a complex of highly similar species (Verves, 1982, 1985), and the taxonomic notes by Lehrer (2003) have added to the complexity by confusing S. latifrons and S. meridionalis Verves. Chao & Zhang (1988 a) refer to differences in the male terminalia between their S. mongolica and S. latifrons, but they do not cite which authority they have used for the latter. We find the male terminalia of S. latifrons (e. g., Pape, 1987, figs. 188 – 191) to be a sufficiently good match to consider the two nominal taxa as conspecific.	en	Zhang, Dong, Zhang, Ming, Li, Zijuan, Pape, Thomas (2015): The Sarcophagidae (Insecta: Diptera) described by Chien-ming Chao and Xue-zhong Zhang. CD3E87B8FFDBA470FF73B06A13832F4E.taxon	discussion	Remarks: Chao & Zhang compared their nominal species only with Wohlfahrtia stackelbergi (Rohdendorf), apparently missing that the crucial taxa involved are W. balassogloi (Portschinsky) and W. grunini (Rohdendorf). The elongate and narrow phallic ventral lobes (“ Ventralloben ” of Verves, 1985) are here considered justification for identifying the holotype as W. grunini. The rather straight cercus of the holotype is a similarity with W. balassogloi (Portschinsky), but the rounded tip (pointed in W. balassogloi) is in full agreement with the current synonymy. Wohlfahrtia grunini is herewith reported from China for the first time.	en	Zhang, Dong, Zhang, Ming, Li, Zijuan, Pape, Thomas (2015): The Sarcophagidae (Insecta: Diptera) described by Chien-ming Chao and Xue-zhong Zhang. CD3E87B8FFDEA47FFF73B79214142E23.taxon	discussion	Remarks: Chao & Zhang (1996 a) compared their new species only with W. stackelbergi Rohdendorf, which has very different male terminalia and in particular has a rather short, blunt, almost straight cercus, and the tip of the distiphallus is bent ventrally at a more or less right angle. We consider the similarities with the male terminalia of W. magnifica as a sufficiently good match to consider the two nominal taxa as conspecific.	en	Zhang, Dong, Zhang, Ming, Li, Zijuan, Pape, Thomas (2015): The Sarcophagidae (Insecta: Diptera) described by Chien-ming Chao and Xue-zhong Zhang. CD3E87B8FFD3A47AFF73B5F013292D22.taxon	discussion	Remarks: The species is differentiated from the other known species of this genus by the pitch-black dorsal surface of the entire body (including frontal vitta, dorsum of mesothorax and tergites of abdomen) (Chao & Zhang, 1988 b). The cercus is reminiscent of B. shelkovnikovi Rohdendorf by the strong dorsal curvature and by showing a strong swelling laterally on the pre-apical part, and the phallus of both species appear to be similar (Verves, 1985, fig. 424). Blaesoxipha shelkovnikovi differs from B. nigridorsalis by having the abdomen densely pollinose and with a distinct, narrow, black median stripe. Also, the cercus is depicted with a longer and more abruptly bent tip, which is herewith confirmed through comparisons with a photograph of the holotype of B. shelkovnikovi (deposited in ZIN). We consider these differences to support B. nigridorsalis as a valid species.	en	Zhang, Dong, Zhang, Ming, Li, Zijuan, Pape, Thomas (2015): The Sarcophagidae (Insecta: Diptera) described by Chien-ming Chao and Xue-zhong Zhang.
