Cordillera, Arroyos y Esteros, July 1875, B. Balansa 980 (holotype G 307386!; isotype P 0721025!, P 0721026!, P 1817737!).</p> <p>= Hyptis elegans (Briq.) Briq. ex Micheli var. campicola Briquet (1897: 21). Type:— PARAGUAY. Ibitimi, February, B. Balansa 979a (holotype G; isotypes K000488247! P00721027!).</p> <p>Perennial herbs, up to 2 m high. Leaves with a petiole 1–3(–7) cm long, ovate blade, 2–7(–10) × 1.5–4(–6) cm, round or cuneate base, acute apex, irregularly serrate margin, abaxial surface hispid, adaxial surface scabrous. Flowers with a pedicel (2–)4–7(–10) mm long, slightly strigose or glabrous, solitary or arranged in 3–4 flowered verticillasters, axillary to foliaceous bracts, forming large terminal panicles, rachis hispid-strigose, never glandular, exceptionally sub-glabrous. Calyx 2–4 mm long, with 5 triangular teeth. Corolla lilac or pink color, 3.5–4 mm long, superior lip 1 mm, bilobate, inferior lip 1–2 mm long, trilobate. Style 2.5–3.5 mm long. Nutlets ellipsoid 1.5 mm, chestnut color.</p> <p>Distribution and habitat: — Condea floribunda grows in Brazil, Paraguay, Uruguay and northern Argentina.</p> <p>Selected specimens examined:— ARGENTINA.
