Yang leg., 1M (HEBU) .

Diagnosis: The long filiform embolus, the absence of terminal apophysis, the claviform distal suprategular apophysis, the absence of parmula, the erect fertilization grooves indicated that Neriene liupanensis Tang & Song, 1992 and Neriene nigripectoris (Oi, 1960) should not belong to the genus Neriene (Figs 1, 2 B–D, 3B–D, 4–5, 6C– E). According to Millidge & Russell-Smith (1992) and Tanasevitch (2017), the atrium with paired, more or less round openings anteriorly, the lightly sclerotized suprategular apophysis largely hidden by the embolic division, the reduced paracymbium (except K. liupanensis) and the coiled embolus with fairly slender end indicate N. liupanensis and N. nigripectoris should belong to the genus Ketambea Millidge & Russell-Smith, 1992 . The male of K. liupanensis can be distinguished from other Ketambea species by the developed paracymbium (Figs 1B, 2B, 2D). The female of K. liupanensis is similar to K. nigripectoris and Ketambea acuta Tanasevitch, 2017 in having similar fertilization grooves tracing which are running downwards from the spermathecae inside the spiral tracing of copulatory groove, but can be distinguished from the latters by the copulatory groove with more coils ( K. liupanensis with three coils, but K. nigripectoris and K. acuta with two coils) (Figs 1 D–E, 3C–D, 4F–G, 6D–E).

Description: The measurements see Hu et al. (2011). Male palp (Figs 1 A–B, 2B–D): Tibia shorter than cymbium. Paracymbium simple, U-shaped, with distal part widened. Distal suprategular apophysis small, claviform. Lamella well-developed, with four projections: lateral one long, U-shaped, with a claviform end curved upwardly, and posterior one short, with a slightly sharp end; anterior one blunt, with round margin; dorsal one short, with a sharp end. Embolus long, coiled. Embolic membrane massive, long, with coiled end. Male habitus as in Fig. 2A.

Epigynum (Figs 1C, 3B): aperture triangular, septum narrow, dividing aperture into two parts. Vulva (Figs 1 D– E, 3C–D): Vulva longer than wide; copulatory grooves spiral, with about three coils; fertilization groove without coils, directly running downwards from the spermatheca inside the spiral tracing of copulatory groove; turningpoints situated laterally, pointing mesally; spermathecae oval. Female habitus as in Fig. 3A.

Distribution: China (Ningxia, Gansu, Xizang), Russia (Fig. 69).

Remarks. Though we did not examine any Ketambea type specimens, Dr. Anderi V. Tanasevitch just examined the male holotype of K. rostrata Millidge & Russell-Smith, 1992 in 2017 for the diagnosis of K. acuta Tanasevitch, 2017 . N. nigripectoris and the female of N. liupanensis are very similar to K. acuta . We think it will be better to place these two species tentatively in Ketambea than Neriene, although the Ketambea needs further revision.

https://treatment.plazi.org/id/8D7387E9C006FF86FF1FFADBFF7CFCD1	Public Domain	No known copyright restrictions apply. These two species can be distinguished from other Neriene species by the following combined characters: simple and U-shaped paracymbium, simple and heavily chitinous terminal apophysis with about two coils, the apical appendage of embolic tip with serrated margin, the vulva wider than long (Figs 24–25, 26 C–E, 36–37, 38C–E). This species can be distinguished from N. limbatinella by the following characters: 1, the lateral projection of lamella significantly long, almost extending beyond the tegulum in the ventral view, with a sharp end in N. limbatinella, but not in N. decormaculata; 2, the parmula triangular with rounded tip, and with a small semi-covered depression on its ventral surface in N. limbatinella, but the parmula short without depression in N. decormaculata (Figs 24–25, 26 C–E, 36– 37, 38C–E).

Description: For measurements see Chen & Zhu (1988). Male palp (Figs 24 A–C, 24E–F, 25): Tibia shorter than cymbium. Paracymbium simple, reduced, with slender end. Distal suprategular apophysis short and wide, distally bifurcate, dorsal part with narrow hooked tip, ventral part membranous, significantly broader than dorsal part. Lamella well-developed, with four projections: lateral one short, with flat and sheet-shaped end; posterior one slightly long and wide; anterior one large, blunt, with round margin; dorsal one significantly short, almost reduced. Terminal apophysis heavily chitinous, spiral, with about two coils. Embolus with long and wide appendage distally of spermduct-tooth, appendage pigmented at most part but without second tooth, with serrated margin apically. Male habitus as in Fig. 26B.

Epigynum (Figs 24D, 26C): In ventral view, atrium opening large, semicircular. Parmula arising from dorsal wall, significantly short, almost reduced. Vulva (Figs 24 G–H, 26D–E): Vulva strongly wider than long; copulatory grooves started mesally, with about one and a half coils; fertilization grooves enter the spermathecae, with about one and a half coils; turning-points short, situated laterally, pointing towards laterally; spermathecae long, slender, significantly curved, pointing towards laterally. Female habitus as in Fig. 26A.

Distribution: China (Hubei) (Fig. 69).

https://treatment.plazi.org/id/8D7387E9C01AFF9AFF1FF8AAFDFFFBDC	Public Domain	No known copyright restrictions apply. According to Van Helsdingen (1969), this species is difficult to be distinguished from N. sundaica by the genital structures, mainly identified by the geography data, the genital and body size. So we identified this species as N. macella by the following reasons: 1, N. macella was recorded from Burma and the Malay Peninsula, N. sundaica from Java and Lombok, a typical island endemic species. So we think the specimens of this species from China should be identified as N. macella; 2, the length of the terminal apophysis of our specimens (from posterior surface of first saucerlike winding to the tip of the element) about 0.28–0.32mm (0.34mm in N. macella; 0.39–0.42mm in N. sundaica), the length of atrium opening about 0.45–0.52mm (0.5–0.53mm in N. macella; 0.64–0.68mm in N. sundaica) (Figs 44–45, 46 C–F).

Description: See Van Helsdingen (1969).

Distribution: China (Hunan, Yunnan, Hainan), Burma, Thailand (Fig. 69).

https://treatment.plazi.org/id/8D7387E9C03AFFBBFF1FFE52FB8AF99E	Public Domain	No known copyright restrictions apply.
