Antennae yellowish brown, club slightly infuscate; maxillary palpi yellowish, segment III infuscate; legs red brown, but knees darker; clypeus black, labrum dark brown with sparse pubescent; paraglossae oval.

Head slightly broader than elytra. Frons broad with a pair of shallow and broad longitudinal furrows, median portion slightly elevated, not reaching the level of dorsal eye margins; punctures round, partly confluent, slightly larger and sparser on median portion than those near inner margins of eyes, diameter of the largest punctures slightly narrower than median cross section of antennal segment II; interstices smooth, distinctly smaller than half the diameter of punctures. Antenna short, when reflexed not reaching the posterior margin of pronotum.

Pronotum slightly longer than broad, disk uneven, with a broad and shallow median furrow throughout; punctures confluent, varied in size, mostly smaller than those on frons; interstices smooth, ridge-like, distinctly narrower than half the diameter of punctures.

Elytra narrower than broad; weakly uneven, shoulders oblique, postero-lateral impression indistinct, humeral impression and long sutural impression shallow; punctuation well reticulated, slightly smaller than those on pronotum; interstices smooth, distinctly narrower than half the diameter of punctures.

Legs slender, tarsomeres IV deeply bilobed.

Abdomen cylindrical, with line-like paratergites only in segments III, tergites and sternites totally fused in segment IV–VI; tergite VII with distinct apical membranous fringe; punctures coarse and moderately dense anteriorly, becoming fine and sparse posteriad; punctures on tergite VII smaller than one eye facet near dorsal eye margin, interstices smooth, mostly larger than diameter of punctures

Male: sternite VIII (Figs. 1 F & 2 B) posteromedially with a small semi-circular-shaped emargination; sternite IX (Figs. 1 G & 2 C) with long acute apicolaterally, posterior margin serrate; tergite X (Figs. 1 H & 2 D) broadly rounded posteriorly, but with a small emargination. Aedeagus (Figs. 1 E & 2 A) elongate, well sclerotized, median lobe gradually becoming narrower apically; apical sclerotized area triangular, with distinct longitudinal keels. Endophallus with median bands moderately long and broad; expulsion clasps each C-shaped, strongly sclerotized; copulatory tube relatively short, thickening posteriorly. Parameres much longer than median lobe, each distinctly spatulate at apical parts, with 4 setae on apico-internal margins, and with 3-4 very long setae at the apical-most part.

Female: sternite VIII (Figs. 1 I & 2 E) weakly pointed posteromedially; tergite X (Figs. 1 J & 2 F) rounded apically. Gonocoxite (Figs. 1 K & 2 G) with strong acute apicolaterally. Spermatheca (Figs.1 L & 2 H) strongly sclerotized, with many bubble structures.

Distribution. China (Hubei).

Etymology. The specific name is dedicated to Mr. Jie Wu, who is the collector of the holotype and paratypes of the new species.

Remarks. The new species belongs to Stenus cephalotes group. This species resembles S. breviculus Tang, Li & Puthz, 2010 and S. dongbaishanus Tang, Liu & Zhao, 2017, but it can be easily distinguished by the following characters: the larger body size and different sexual characteristics in detail observation.

https://treatment.plazi.org/id/687BA50EFF8A4331FF68FD03FBF7F83C	Public Domain	No known copyright restrictions apply. The expulsion clasps are larger and separate from each other side of the aedeagus (Figs. 3E & 4A), when we observed the specimens from Hubei, China. This differences may not be fundamental but obvious from that reproted by Puthz (2017).

https://treatment.plazi.org/id/687BA50EFF8F4337FF68FF29FCC6FDC6	Public Domain	No known copyright restrictions apply.
