Labial palpi wide, rather long, twice as long as longitudinal eye diameter. Third segment protruding slightly forward. Antennae thin, dark gray. Length of fore wings 16 mm. Fore wings dark gray. Faint black spot in front of cleft. Barely noticeable light band in distal part of both lobes. Fringe inside cleft light gray. Two black areas of scales on light gray fringe along posterior margin of forewing, behind its middle part. Hind wings unicolorous, light gray. Fringe on third lobe of hind wings light, with distinct portion of black scales distally. Individual black scales scattered along third lobe fringe. Hind legs light brown with areas of dark scales at base of spurs. Male genitalia. Valvae narrow, symmetric, cucullus narrowed, slightly curved. Sacculus two-lobed, both parts of approximately similar length, basal part slightly wider than distal part. Uncus slightly widened basally and narrowed apically. Tegumen two-lobed. Anellus arms symmetric, long, wide basally. Saccus with deep fork-shaped saccular process. Aedeagus arched, basal process small, tuberculate. Middle part of thorax black, framed with white scales. Tegulae light gray. Labial palpi brown, rather long, twice as long as longitudinal eye diameter. Antennae thin, black. Length of fore wings 21 mm. Fore wings light up to middle part, with small areas of dark scales. In distal part, fore wings black with bright white areas: in form of sinuous bands on both lobes and in form of irregular bright white spots above cleft base. Fringe along posterior margin of fore wing light gray with two distinct areas of black scales. Fringe inside cleft light. First lobe pointed apically. Hind wings unicolorous, light gray. Fringe on third lobe of hindwings also light gray with distinct portion of black scales in its middle part. Individual black scales on fringe of third lobe, at its base. Hind legs dark brown with lightened areas of scales at spur base and on tarsus. Male genitalia. Valvae symmetric, cucullus arched, slightly pointed apically. Sacculus two-lobed, basal part wide, two-thirds of valva length. Uncus rather long, elliptically widened at apex. Tegumen two-lobed. Anellus arms symmetric, wide. Aedeagus arched, with narrow elongated cornutus in middle part, aedeagus basal process wavy, equal to caecum in length. Fore wings light yellow with areas of scattered brown scales. Dark brown longitudinal stroke along costal margin, above cleft base. Dark brown stripe along first lobe, in its middle part. Second lobe densely darkened with dark scales. Fringe inside cleft yellowish. Hind wings unicolorous, light gray. Hind legs unicolorous, light yellow. Male genitalia. Uncus simple, slightly pointed apically. Valvae elongated, symmetric. Saccular process at base of left valva, made of wide plate and small finger-like process. Anellus arms unequal in length, right arm distinctly longer than left one. Sacculus in middle part of right valva noticeably widened, with spiny process closer to its base. Vinculum arched. In the male genitalia, the new species is similar to Hellinsia praenigratus (Meyrick, 1921) in the shape of saccular process on the left valva and the shape of anellus arms, but is distinctly different in the symmetric valva and spine-like saccular process placed at the base. The left valva of H. praenigratus is significantly wider than the right one, and the spine-like process is in the middle part of sacculus. In 1986 he became a priest of the Russian Orthodox Church of the Moscow Patriarchate and retired in 2021.
