Middle part of thorax black, framed with white scales. Tegulae light gray. Labial palpi brown, rather long, twice as long as longitudinal eye diameter. Antennae thin, black. Length of fore wings 21 mm. Fore wings light up to middle part, with small areas of dark scales. In distal part, fore wings black with bright white areas: in form of sinuous bands on both lobes and in form of irregular bright white spots above cleft base. Fringe along posterior margin of fore wing light gray with two distinct areas of black scales. Fringe inside cleft light. First lobe pointed apically. Hind wings unicolorous, light gray. Fringe on third lobe of hindwings also light gray with distinct portion of black scales in its middle part. Individual black scales on fringe of third lobe, at its base. Hind legs dark brown with lightened areas of scales at spur base and on tarsus.

Male genitalia. Valvae symmetric, cucullus arched, slightly pointed apically. Sacculus two-lobed, basal part wide, two-thirds of valva length. Uncus rather long, elliptically widened at apex. Tegumen two-lobed. Anellus arms symmetric, wide. Aedeagus arched, with narrow elongated cornutus in middle part, aedeagus basal process wavy, equal to caecum in length.

Female unknown.

Diagnosis. The new species is similar to Stenoptilodes medius Gielis, 2006 in the general structure of male genitalia, but is distinctly different in arched aedeagus with a rather long basal process and the presence of cornutus, as well as elongated cucullus at the valva apex.

Distribution. Colombia.

Flight period. January.

Etymology. The new species is named in honor of Rodrigo Bernali, Colombian botanist specializing in the study of the palm family ( Arecaceae). Rodrigo and his wife Blanca Martinez share a profound interest in insects, particularly Lepidoptera, and they engage in environmental education of the population, through the publication of posters and books (Bernal & Martinez 2023).

https://treatment.plazi.org/id/5E2387A8FF926D16FF22FE5AFD5CFA4A	Public Domain	No known copyright restrictions apply. IV. 2014, (V. Sinyaev & M. Márquez) ; Paratypes, 1 ♂ [CUK], 1 ♀ [ZISP, gen. slide No. 2019], same data as holotype .

Description. External characters. Head, thorax and tegulae light yellow. Collar on head with bright brown scales. Labial palpi thin, pale yellow, straight, twice as short as longitudinal eye diameter. Antennae yellowish brown. Length of forewings 22 mm. Fore wings light yellow with areas of scattered brown scales. Dark brown longitudinal stroke along costal margin, above cleft base. Dark brown stripe along first lobe, in its middle part. Second lobe densely darkened with dark scales. Fringe inside cleft yellowish. Hind wings unicolorous, light gray. Hind legs unicolorous, light yellow.

Male genitalia. Uncus simple, slightly pointed apically. Valvae elongated, symmetric. Saccular process at base of left valva, made of wide plate and small finger-like process. Anellus arms unequal in length, right arm distinctly longer than left one. Sacculus in middle part of right valva noticeably widened, with spiny process closer to its base. Vinculum arched. Aedeagus narrow, almost straight, narrowed apically, without cornuti.

Female genitalia. Papillae anales broadly oval. Apophyses posteriores long, straight, slightly widened, curved at ends. Apophyses anteriores absent. Ostium shifted to left. Antrum wide, cup-shaped. Corpus bursae long, vesicular.

Diagnosis. In the male genitalia, the new species is similar to Hellinsia praenigratus (Meyrick, 1921) in the shape of saccular process on the left valva and the shape of anellus arms, but is distinctly different in the symmetric valva and spine-like saccular process placed at the base. The left valva of H. praenigratus is significantly wider than the right one, and the spine-like process is in the middle part of sacculus. In the female genitalia, the new species clearly differs from H. praenigratus in a wide cup-shaped antrum.

Distribution. Colombia.

Flight period. April.

Etymology. The species is named in honor of Father Zosima (in the worldly realm Sergei Vasilievich Shevchuk) (Moscow, Russia). In 1986 he became a priest of the Russian Orthodox Church of the Moscow Patriarchate and retired in 2021. Since childhood, he was fascinated by entomology, especially butterflies.

https://treatment.plazi.org/id/5E2387A8FF926D10FF22F992FBB0FD5E	Public Domain	No known copyright restrictions apply.
