064187B8FFFBFF9A55F5F8EBAC88624F.taxon	discussion	Remarks: Dactylogyrus retroversus was adequately described by Guégan et al. (1988). This species closely resembles D. titus Guégan, Lambert & Euzet, 1988 as shown by similarities of the haptoral sclerites and the copulatory organ. However, D. retroversus differs from the latter species by the size of the anchor point (shorter with respect to the anchor size in D. titus) and the size of the copulatory organ (smaller in D. titus).	en	Musilová, Na Ď A, Ehulková, Eva Ř, Gelnar, Milan (2009): Dactylogyrids (Platyhelminthes: Monogenea) from the gills of the African carp, Labeo coubie Rüppell (Cyprinidae), from Senegal, with descriptions of three new species of Dactylogyrus and the redescription of Dactylogyrus cyclocirrus Paperna, 1973. 064187B8FFFDFF9C55F5FA63AD2763FB.taxon	discussion	Remarks: The morphology and measurements of the specimens found by us on Labeo coubie correspond well to the original description of Dactylogyrus falcilocus from the same host in Mali (Guégan et al. 1988). Only minor differences could be detected in size of hooks, which is somewhat shorter in specimens from Mali (i. e. 12 – 16 vs. 14 – 18). Also, morphometrical features of this parasite reported on L. parvus and Barbus wurtzi from Guinea and Sierra Leone (Guégan & Lambert 1990, 1991) are in general agreement with those of the present specimens.	en	Musilová, Na Ď A, Ehulková, Eva Ř, Gelnar, Milan (2009): Dactylogyrids (Platyhelminthes: Monogenea) from the gills of the African carp, Labeo coubie Rüppell (Cyprinidae), from Senegal, with descriptions of three new species of Dactylogyrus and the redescription of Dactylogyrus cyclocirrus Paperna, 1973. 064187B8FFFCFF9E55F5FA5BAD90618B.taxon	discussion	Remarks: Paperna (1969) originally described Dactylogyrus senegalensis on the gills of two fish hosts Labeo senegalensis and L. coubie from Ghana. Ten years later, during his re-examination of the type specimens of D. senegalensis, he revealed dissimilarities in the lengths of anchor roots between the specimens from L. senegalensis and those from L. coubie, and proposed D. cf senegalensis from the latter host (Paperna 1979). Subsequently, Guégan et al. (1988) described D. decaspirus from L. coubie in Mali and stated Paperna’s (1979) D. cf senegalensis as its synonym. These authors clearly differentiated D. decaspirus from D. senegalensis by the former species having 2 bars (only 1 bar in D. senegalensis), anchor with long inner root and reduced outer root (short inner and long outer root in D. senegalensis, i. e. in conformity with Paperna’s description (1979 )), and a copulatory organ with about 10 rings (only 3 rings in D. senegalensis). Comparison of our specimens from L. coubie collected in Senegal with the holotype of D. decaspirus (MNHN HC 262, Tj 203) and vouchers of D. cf senegalensis (RMCA M. T. 35.515 B-C, 35.516 C and E) clearly supports conspecificity of these specimens. Although Paperna (1979) did not depict the ventral bar in his drawings, in accordance with the description of D. decaspirus by Guégan et al. (1988), we confirmed that the ventral bar is present in the haptor of D. cf senegalensis. Also, the differentiation of hook pairs based on their sizes corresponds well with the description of Guégan et al. (1988), i. e. pair III is larger and pair VI is smaller than the other hook pairs.	en	Musilová, Na Ď A, Ehulková, Eva Ř, Gelnar, Milan (2009): Dactylogyrids (Platyhelminthes: Monogenea) from the gills of the African carp, Labeo coubie Rüppell (Cyprinidae), from Senegal, with descriptions of three new species of Dactylogyrus and the redescription of Dactylogyrus cyclocirrus Paperna, 1973. 064187B8FFFEFF9155F5FE9FAED96075.taxon	discussion	Remarks: The morphometrical features of our specimens from Labeo coubie correspond well with the description of D. oligospirophallus by Guégan et al. (1988), especially with respect to the shape of the copulatory organ and the presence of a sclerotized vagina. Also, comparison of our specimens with the holotype of D. oligospirophallus (RMCA M. T. 35.516 B) designated by Paperna (1979) clearly supports conspecificity of these specimens. In addition, our detailed examination of the holotype confirmed the presence of a vestigial ventral bar, which was not depicted in the original (Paperna 1973) as well as in the supplemental (Paperna 1979) descriptions.	en	Musilová, Na Ď A, Ehulková, Eva Ř, Gelnar, Milan (2009): Dactylogyrids (Platyhelminthes: Monogenea) from the gills of the African carp, Labeo coubie Rüppell (Cyprinidae), from Senegal, with descriptions of three new species of Dactylogyrus and the redescription of Dactylogyrus cyclocirrus Paperna, 1973. 064187B8FFF1FF9355F5FED2AE8767F7.taxon	discussion	Remarks: Based on the drawings of the sclerotized structures, this species markedly resembles D. cyclocirrus Paperna, 1973 from Labeo victorianus (Paperna 1979) and from L. senegalensis (Guégan et al. 1988), and D. omega Guégan & Lambert, 1991 from L. rouaneti (Guégan & Lambert 1991). The former species was described briefly and incompletely (i. e. without drawings of sclerotized structures) by Paperna (1973) on the gills of L. cylindricus (type host) from Ruaha River (Tanzania), L. victorianus from Nzoia River (Kenya), L. senegalensis and L. coubie from Volta Lake (Ghana). Six years later, this author supplemented the original description with drawings of the sclerotized structures of D. cyclocirrus collected from L. cylindricus and L. victorianus, and pointed out considerable morphometric variations in sclerotized structures depending on host species and locality (see Paperna 1979). Indeed, Paperna’s (1979) drawings of the sclerotized structures and our examination of the type specimens of D. cyclocirrus revealed that the description of this parasite was obtained from two morphologically different species. Although the type specimens available to us were in poor condition, features of visible sclerotized structures clearly show the non-conspecificity of the specimens from L. cylindricus (syntypes RMCA M. T. 35.699) and specimens from L. victorianus (paratypes RMCA M. T. 35.700), based on the size and morphology of the anchors, dorsal bars, and hooks (compare Fig. 8 II with Fig. 8 I). Furthermore, Paperna (1979) did not depict the vestigial ventral bar, which we observed only in the specimens from L. victorianus and whose presence distinguishes these specimens from the specimens collected from L. cylindricus. On top of that, the parallel designation of syntypes and paratypes within the same type series is wrong, based on the “ name-bearing types fixed in the original publication (holotypes and syntypes) ” (Article 73, 1999 ICZN). In view of our findings above and the fact that Paperna (1979) designated L. cylindricus as the type host of D. cyclocirrus, we designate the lectotype for this species of Dactylogyrus from the syntypes collected from this host only (see Fig. 8 II). Overlooking Paperna’s (1979) mistake, Guégan et al. (1988) identified their Dactylogyrus specimens from L. senegalensis as D. cyclocirrus, probably based on the morphological similarity between their specimens and the specimens from L. victorianus (Paperna 1979). Further, our comparison of their drawings of the sclerotized structures with Paperna’s (1979) “ paratypes ” of D. cyclocirrus revealed small differences in the morphology of the anchors and dorsal bars. Anchors of D. cyclocirrus reported by Guégan et al. (1988) are larger and with a shorter point than those in Paperna’s (1979) “ paratypes ”. On the other hand the dorsal bar described by the former authors is smaller in relation to anchor size than that in the “ paratypes ” of D. cyclocirrus (compare Fig. 3 of Guégan et. al (1988) with Fig. 8 I presented herein). Based on the abovementioned differences we believe that the specimens from these two host species belong to two different Dactylogyrus species. However, the morphology of all sclerotized structures (i. e. haptoral sclerites and copulatory organ) in specimens collected by us from L. coubie is in agreement with that reported by Guégan et al. (1988) in the record of D. cyclocirrus. Therefore, we consider D. cyclocirrus of Guégan et al. (1988) from L. senegalensis to be an older subjective synonym of D. yassensis n. sp. This new species is confused easily with D. omega described by Guégan and Lambert (1991) on L. rouaneti (see Fig. 9) from Guinea and on L. parvus from Sierra Leone and Ivory Coast. However, these species are distinguished by the fact that D. yassensis n. sp. possesses: (1) a larger anchors; (2) a shorter point not reaching the level of the tip of inner anchor root (extending past level of tip of inner anchor root in D. omega); (3) a dorsal bar smaller in relation to anchors size; and (4) a copulatory tube with noticeably larger diameter (see Tab. 1, Figs. 7 and 9). Although the comparative morphology of corresponding structures does not differ markedly, the designation of D. yassensis n. sp. is supported also by Guégan and Lambert (1991) who distinguished their D. omega from D. cyclocirrus of Guégan et al. (1988) by the different tube diameter of their copulatory organs. D. yassensis n. 064187B8FFF1FF9355F5FED2AE8767F7.taxon	discussion	Remarks: As a result of our examination of the type specimens of D. cyclocirrus, it was found that Paperna’s (1979) type series contains two distinct species (see Remarks on D. yassensis n. sp.). Based on the morphology of the sclerotized structures, the specimens from L. victorianus (syntypes RMCA M. T. 35.700) is intermediate between D. omega and D. yassensis n. sp. by having an anchor point extending past level of tip of inner root, similar to that of D. omega, and a wide copulatory tube diameter (i. e. 4 – 5; n = 2) like that of D. yassensis n. sp. (see Tab. 1). However, the available specimens are insufficient for description and therefore we believe they only reflect undescribed species.	en	Musilová, Na Ď A, Ehulková, Eva Ř, Gelnar, Milan (2009): Dactylogyrids (Platyhelminthes: Monogenea) from the gills of the African carp, Labeo coubie Rüppell (Cyprinidae), from Senegal, with descriptions of three new species of Dactylogyrus and the redescription of Dactylogyrus cyclocirrus Paperna, 1973. 064187B8FFF3FF9255F5F95BA80B66B6.taxon	discussion	Remarks: This species was redescribed based on our re-examination of the 12 syntypes (RMCA M. The lectotype represents the specimen drawn by us in Fig. 8 II; all other specimens in the original series thus become paralectotypes. In view of the fact that Paperna (1979) did not include in the original description of D. cyclocirrus morphometrical features of specimens collected on L. coubie and L. senegalensis from Ghana, we consider these host and geography records as doubtful. 064187B8FFF4FF9755F5FBCDAF0E6367.taxon	discussion	Remarks: Dactylogyrus dembae n. sp. is similar to D. labeous Paperna, 1969 from Labeo senegalensis and D. jaculus Guégan, Lambert & Euzet, 1988 from L. coubie, based on the comparative morphology of the haptoral sclerotized structures (see Paperna 1969; Guégan et al. 1988). However, this new species is clearly differentiated from all congeners reported from L. coubie by possessing a copulatory organ with a relatively broad and centrally waved tube. As a result of our attempt to compare our specimens of D. jaculus Guégan, Lambert & Euzet, 1988 with the vouchers of D. cf labeous Paperna, 1979 (see above), conspecificity was found between these specimens (see Fig. 12). We therefore consider D. cf labeous from L. coubie to be a senior subjective synonym of D. dembae (not of D. jaculus).	en	Musilová, Na Ď A, Ehulková, Eva Ř, Gelnar, Milan (2009): Dactylogyrids (Platyhelminthes: Monogenea) from the gills of the African carp, Labeo coubie Rüppell (Cyprinidae), from Senegal, with descriptions of three new species of Dactylogyrus and the redescription of Dactylogyrus cyclocirrus Paperna, 1973. 064187B8FFF6FF8955F5FF3AAD0C601F.taxon	discussion	Remarks: Dactylogyrus leonis n. sp. resembles Dactylogyrus longiphallus Paperna, 1973 from Labeo victorianus and Dactylogyrus longiphalloides Guégan & Lambert, 1991 from L. alluaudi (see Paperna 1979; Guégan & Lambert 1991), by possessing similarly shaped haptoral sclerites and the same type of the copulatory organ. It differs from both species by the morphology of the vagina and by having anchors with conspicuous subterminal notch on the inner side of the outer root, a copulatory tube with lobated base (copulatory base simple in D. longiphallus and D. longiphalloides), and an accessory piece with 3 distal branches (two distal branches connected by a fine sclerotized formation in D. longiphallus and D. longiphalloides).	en	Musilová, Na Ď A, Ehulková, Eva Ř, Gelnar, Milan (2009): Dactylogyrids (Platyhelminthes: Monogenea) from the gills of the African carp, Labeo coubie Rüppell (Cyprinidae), from Senegal, with descriptions of three new species of Dactylogyrus and the redescription of Dactylogyrus cyclocirrus Paperna, 1973. 064187B8FFE8FF8B55F5FA08AF57635D.taxon	discussion	Remarks: The sclerotized structures reported in the original description of Dogielius harpagatus and those found on the present specimens correspond both in morphology and size. This species closely resembles Dogielius clavipenis in the morphology of the haptoral structures and the copulatory organ. However, it differs from it by having a simple copulatory base, i. e. without flap. Guégan et al. (1989) erroneously depicted this structure as proximal part of the accessory piece.	en	Musilová, Na Ď A, Ehulková, Eva Ř, Gelnar, Milan (2009): Dactylogyrids (Platyhelminthes: Monogenea) from the gills of the African carp, Labeo coubie Rüppell (Cyprinidae), from Senegal, with descriptions of three new species of Dactylogyrus and the redescription of Dactylogyrus cyclocirrus Paperna, 1973. 064187B8FFEAFF8A55F5FD00ADFF6745.taxon	discussion	Remarks: The present specimens of D. flagellatus correspond in most morphological and metrical characters to those described originally (see Guégan et al. 1989). Only minor differences could be detected in the outer lengths of anchors, which were slightly longer in our specimens found on L. coubie from Senegal (40 – 43 vs. 34 – 38). However, we do not consider these differences to be significant because of the poorly defined nodal point for measuring the outer and inner anchor lengths on the outer surface of the concave part of the shaft (see Fig. 1).	en	Musilová, Na Ď A, Ehulková, Eva Ř, Gelnar, Milan (2009): Dactylogyrids (Platyhelminthes: Monogenea) from the gills of the African carp, Labeo coubie Rüppell (Cyprinidae), from Senegal, with descriptions of three new species of Dactylogyrus and the redescription of Dactylogyrus cyclocirrus Paperna, 1973.
