03BB87ECFF941453FF74FB828227FEA8.taxon	diagnosis	Diagnosis. Metachrostis dardouini differs in wing coloration from its western Palaearctic congeners by being dark-brown and from its eastern Palaearctic congeners (M. sinevi, M. miasma, etc.) by the well expressed violet tint. Male genitalia differ by having equally wide valva, without constriction on ventral margin, and by having the smallest proximal extension of aedeagus in comparison to other species.	en	V, Ато (2009): A review of Palaearctic Metachrostis Hübner, [1820] 1816 with description of three new species (Lepidoptera: Noctuidae, Eublemminae). 03BB87ECFF941453FF74FB828227FEA8.taxon	description	Description. Adult (Figs. 1, 2). Wingspan 16 – 17 mm. Head, body and wings violet-brown. All lines, orbicular spot and reniform spot dark-brown, bordered with grey suffusion. Subterminal field between postmedial and submarginal lines with wide dark-brown band. Tergite 8 th of males quadrangular. In male genitalia (Fig. 23) valva wide, with parallel dorsal and ventral margins, not constricted medially. Proximal extension of aedeagus narrow, somewhat curved outward. In female genitalia (Fig. 37) antrum extended proximally; ductus bursae 2 times narrower than antrum.	en	V, Ато (2009): A review of Palaearctic Metachrostis Hübner, [1820] 1816 with description of three new species (Lepidoptera: Noctuidae, Eublemminae). Southern and central Europe: Portugal, Spain, Italy, Balkans, Romania, Bulgaria, Albania, Greece, Crete, Cyprus, south France, south Germany, south Slovakia, Hungary, Austria, Switzerland; Near East: Turkey, Syria. In the Near East the species is represented by ssp. dilucida. The new species differs from its close relatives (M. velox, M. velocior, M. griseimargo, M. batanga) by grey-ochreous tint to the wing coloration, by more contrasting wing pattern (wider and always clearly expressed medial line, usually having brown diffused shadow on inner side), by a smaller and more uniformly colored reniform spot, and by the absence of an orbicular spot in most specimens. In male genitalia the new species differs by having a narrower valva that is more deeply constricted medially at the ventral side, and by the shape of the proximal extension of the aedeagus and shorter proximal part of the aedeagus (coecum).	en	V, Ато (2009): A review of Palaearctic Metachrostis Hübner, [1820] 1816 with description of three new species (Lepidoptera: Noctuidae, Eublemminae). 03BB87ECFF9C145AFF74FF4B87E7FC0D.taxon	diagnosis	Diagnosis. Externally Metachrostis quinaria can be confused only with other darkly colored species of the genus (M. dardouini, M. hoenei, M. sinevi, M. miasma). It differs from M. dardouini by the absence of violet tinting to the wings, and from M. sinevi and M. miasma by the absence of a dark shadow on the inner side of the medial line. From M. hoenei it differs by having a paler greyish wing color, darker basal and subbasal areas, a well expressed medial line, and a pale-grey fold between veins A 2 and A 3 on the hindwing.	en	V, Ато (2009): A review of Palaearctic Metachrostis Hübner, [1820] 1816 with description of three new species (Lepidoptera: Noctuidae, Eublemminae). 03BB87ECFF9C145CFF74FB9E8111FEC2.taxon	diagnosis	Diagnosis. Metachrostis sinevi is closest to M. miasma. The two are difficult to separate, but the wing coloration of M. sinevi has a more greyish tint, the basal and subbasal fields are darker, the postmedial line is straight and thin, the waved band in the subterminal field of the forewing is grey, and the hindwing is paler grey-brown with a less strongly expressed pattern. M. sinevi is reliably separated in the male genitalia, particularly by the valva being extended medially and apically, and by a shorter and wider aedeagus than in M. miasma, with a wider coecum and proximal extension.	en	V, Ато (2009): A review of Palaearctic Metachrostis Hübner, [1820] 1816 with description of three new species (Lepidoptera: Noctuidae, Eublemminae). 03BB87ECFF9B145FFF74F88C8647FC5E.taxon	diagnosis	Diagnosis. This species was referred by earlier authors (Poole 1989; Hacker 1990) to the genus Metachrostis. Our study of the genitalia of both sexes indicates it is a representative of the genus Eublemma, belonging to the Eublemma polygramma - species group. Externally, Eublemma melabela differs from all Palaearctic species of Metachrostis by the characteristic V-shaped medial line on the forewing, and from most other Metachrostis species (except M. velox and M. velocior) by its larger size.	en	V, Ато (2009): A review of Palaearctic Metachrostis Hübner, [1820] 1816 with description of three new species (Lepidoptera: Noctuidae, Eublemminae).
