Genus Allotrochosina Roewer, 1960 (sensu Framenau 2008)

Remarks. Framenau (2008) described A. walesiana and relimited the boundaries of Allotrochosina as below: macrosetae or bristles at cymbium tip absent; pedipalp tibia length subequal to length of cymbium; embolic division of male pedipalp reduced (flattened), embolic division with an apical process that is directed retrolaterally in male; genital openings extend posteriorly from epigynal area or lateral epigynum margins extending past median septum; pedipalp tibiae and tarsi subequal in length in female. Here, we used the generic name Allotrochosina following Framenau (2008).

Etymology. The specific name is an adjective from the Latin word ‘ serpentinus’, meaning ‘serpentiform’, referring to the shape of the embolus.

Diagnosis: Allotrochosina serpentina Wang & Li sp. nov. resembles A. huangi Wang, Li & Zhang, 2021 (Wang et al., 2021a: 17, figs 1A–B, 3–5) in having a thick and short median apophysis, membranous conductor, groove-like terminal apophysis, and relatively large, crescent-shaped fertilization ducts, but differs by the terminal apophysis with a triangular end (vs. hook-like in A. huangi ), the thin and serpentiform embolus (vs. crescent-shaped in A. huangi ), the pediform median apophysis (vs. liver-shaped in A. huangi ) (Figs 1A–B, 2C–G), the C-shaped spermathecal stalks (vs. V-shaped in A. huangi ), and the large spermathecal heads (vs. small in A. huangi ) (Figs 1C–D, 2H–I).

Description. Male holotype (Fig. 2A) total length 3.68. Prosoma 2.19 long, 1.53 wide; opisthosoma 1.62 long, 1.11 wide. Carapace grey brown. Leg measurements: I 5.83 (1.56, 1.90, 1.45, 0.92); II 5.29 (1.44, 1.74, 1.34, 0.77); III 5.05 (1.39, 1.59, 1.39, 0.68); IV 7.26 (1.84, 2.34, 2.06, 1.02). Leg formula: 4123. Opisthosoma oval. Dorsum yellow-brown, with black markings. Venter yellow-brown.

Palp (Figs 1A–B, 2C–G). Terminal apophysis wide, covered by median apophysis, distal part antidromous, with a sharp end. Median apophysis with a wide base, its anterior part pediform, slightly sclerotized. Embolus thin and serpentiform. Conductor wide, membranous, tapering distally.

Leg measurements: I 6.31 (1.77, 2.20, 1.45, 0.89); II 5.61 (1.54, 1.92, 1.39, 0.76); III 5.09 (1.48, 1.59, 1.32, 0.70); IV 7.70 (2.05, 2.40, 2.29, 0.96). Leg formula: 4123.

Epigyne (Figs 1C–D, 2H–I). Spermathecal heads round. Spermathecal stalks C-shaped, wider than spermathecal heads, separated from each other by two times the length of a fertilization duct. Fertilization ducts relatively large, crescent-shaped.

Habitat preferences. All the specimens were collected by leaf-litter sieving, indicating this species mostly lives in leaf litter.

Distribution. Known only from the type locality, Tam Dao National Park, Vinh Phuc Province, Vietnam (Fig. 7).

Etymology. The specific name an adjective from the Latin word ‘ hamatus’, meaning ‘hamate’ or ‘hook-like’, referring to the shape of the median apophysis end.

Diagnosis. Sinartoria hamata Wang & Li sp. nov. is similar to S. damingshanensis Wang, Framenau & Zhang, 2021 (Wang et al. 2021b: 573, figs 1A–C, 2A–H) in having a long embolus, and long and groove-like terminal apophysis, but differs from the latter by the single terminal apophysis (vs. double apophysis in S. damingshanensis ), the simple median apophysis (vs. with three branches in S. damingshanensis ), and the membranous conductor (vs. conductor sclerotized in S. damingshanensis ) (Figs 5–6).

Description. Male holotype (Fig. 6A) total length 3.53. Prosoma 1.99 long, 1.43 wide; opisthosoma 1.67 long, 0.98 wide. Carapace grey brown. Eye sizes and interdistances: AME 0.06, ALE 0.05, PME 0.26, PLE 0.17; AME– AME 0.05, AME–ALE 0.08, PME–PME 0.18, PME–PLE 0.16. Clypeus height 0.05. Chelicerae yellow brown, with three promarginal and two retromarginal teeth. Endites and labium yellow brown, longer than wide. Sternum yellow brown, with sparse brown hairs. Legs yellow brown. Leg measurements: I 4.68 (1.33, 1.68, 1.08, 0.59); II 4.51 (1.29, 1.45, 1.04, 0.73); III 4.24 (1.23, 1.28, 1.09, 0.64); IV 6.04 (1.59, 1.92, 1.66, 0.87). Leg formula: 4123. Opisthosoma oval. Dorsum yellow brown, with black markings. Venter yellow brown.

Palp (Figs 5A–B, 6B–F). Terminal apophysis wide, covered by median apophysis, its anterior part sclerotized and groove-like. Median apophysis oval in ventral view, distally hook-shaped. Embolus long and robust, its anterior part resting in the long groove of a large and complex terminal apophysis.

Female unknown.

Remarks. This species shares with other members of Sinartoria a posterior tuft of white setae at the opisthosoma, the large subtegulum comprising about one-third of the bulb, the thick and short median apophysis (with one conspicuous and two indistinct arms), the arc-shaped embolus extending counterclockwise, and the sclerotized, groove-like terminal apophysis (TA 2 in Wang, et al. 2021b). Therefore, we believe that Sinartoria is the most suitable genus to accommodate this new species.

Habitat preferences. All the specimens were collected by pitfall traps, thus this species may live on the forest floor or in leaf litter.
