Paratypes. 2 males, with same data as holotype; 1 male, Lufeng county, 1723 m, 25.072’N, 101.990’E, Chuxiong city, Yunnan Prov. [China], 26.vi.2024, leg. Yan-Qing Hu & Yong Yu. [SWUST] .

Diagnosis. In terms of external morphology, the new species exhibits similarities to M. guentereberti and M. margalla; however, the distinguishing features are as follows: in the forewings, the new species features an arcuate postmedial line below vein M 3, whereas in M. guentereberti and M. margalla, postmedial line is almost straighter below vein M 3 (László et al. 2014, page 273, Figs 3–6). Regarding the male genitalia, the new species possesses a truncated and broad cucullus and a sclerotized and straight process at the distal end of aedeagus; conversely, in M. guentereberti and M. margalla, cucullus is rounded and aedeagus terminates with a triangular process (László et al. 2014, page 56, Figs 22, 24).

Description. Adult (Fig. 1). Wingspan 16–17 mm. Head gray; antenna brown and bipectinate in male; labial palps porrect and predominantly covered with gray scales. Thorax dark brown and collar covered with gray scales. Abdomen brown. Forewing ground color grayish brown; wing base black; two black patches at costal margin beyond postmedial line; basal line indistinct; antemedial line thin, black and readily discernible below cell; medial line black, and broad compared to antemedial line; inner half of median area blackish suffused in costal section; postmedial line blackish, zigzagged and more or less straight above continuous vein M 3, its lower section arcuate inwards; subterminal line broad and diffuse, sinuous, blackish brown; terminal line gray; cilia blackish brown. Hindwing grayish brown; discal spot grayish black.

Male genitalia. (Figs 2, 3). Uncus tapering and pointed apically; tegumen narrow apically and broad basally; valva elongate, slightly constricted medially and somewhat sclerotized along costal margin; harpe robust, upcurved distally, thorn-shaped and tapering towards its acute tip; cucullus wide and truncated; saccus V-shaped. Aedeagus with a sclerotized and straight process distally; vesica without cornuti.

Female. Unknown.

Distribution. China (Yunnan).

Etymology. The specific name is derived from the name of the type-locality, the Lufeng county, Yunnan province, China.

https://treatment.plazi.org/id/03B6177DFF8DFFB3DEB8FF65FEF8FB3B	Public Domain	No known copyright restrictions apply.
