            <p> Metacryptoseius Kazemi &amp; Moraza gen. nov. </p>
            <p>(Figs 1–25)</p>
            <p> Type species:  Metacryptoseius persicus sp. nov.</p>
            <p>Diagnosis. Dorsal shield of adult females and males not covering whole body, with 26 pairs of setae and 22 pairs of pore-like structures. Adult female sternal shield fused with endopodal shield between coxae I/II and II/III, with three pairs of setae and two pairs of lyrifissures; minute metasternal shields bearing sternal setae st4 and lyrifissures iv3 present. Adult male with sternogenital shield slightly narrowed posteriorly and not fused with anal shield, with five pairs of setae and three pairs of lyrifissures. Chaetotaxy of opisthogaster reduced to five pairs of setae (JV1, JV2, JV5, ZV2 and ZV3). Gnathotectum of both sexes triangular with anterior margin smooth to slightly dentate. Deutosternal groove with six rows of denticles. Sexual dimorphism visible in the shape of corniculi and chelicerae: corniculi stout, in male rounded apically and in female acute; fixed cheliceral digit longer than movable digit in females.</p>
            <p>Description. Female. Dorsal idiosoma. Dorsal shield with anterolateral incisions reaching level of setae z2 to j3. Dorsum with 32 pairs of setae: setae j1-j6, J1, J3-J5, z1, z2, z4, z5, Z2-Z5, s2, s4, s5, S3-S5, r2 and r3 on dorsal shield (s2, r2 and r3 on laterodosal elements); setae s6, r5, R1, R3-R5 on soft cuticle. Dorsal shield with 22 pairs of discernible pore-like structures (eight podonotal, 14 opisthonotal), of which seven (three podonotal, four opisthonotal) superficially appear secretory (gland pores) and 15 (five podonotal, ten opisthonotal) non-secretory (lyrifissures); marginal poroid Rp (= idR3) between setae R3-R4 and two pairs of lyrifissures on soft cuticle.</p>
            <p>Ve n t r a l idiosoma. Tritosternum with narrow base and two free pilose laciniae; presternal region weakly sclerotized; sternal shield entire, with three pairs of setae and two pairs of lyrifissures (iv1, iv2), fused with endopodal shields between coxae I/II and II/III; fourth pair of sternal setae and lyrifissures on minute metasternal plates (Figs 10, 11). Endopodal shields well developed between coxae III and IV; parapodal shields present. Genital shield with hyaline, smooth convex anterior margin; posterior margin of genital shield broadly rounded; setae st5 on lateral borders of shield, paragenital lyrifissures iv5 on soft cuticle alongside genital shield. Inguinal region with a pair of nearly oval metapodal platelets and gland pores gv2 posterior to coxae IV, sometimes with platelets behind posterior margin of genital shield. Anal shield relatively small, pear-shaped or nearly subtriangular; anus located on anterior half of shield, with relatively small anal opening (euanal setae and lyrifissures on anal valves absent); adanal gland pores gv3 on lateral edges of shield; cribrum normally developed. Chaetotaxy of opisthogaster reduced to five pairs of simple setae (larval setae JV1, JV2, JV5, ZV2 and deutonymphal setae ZV3) on soft cuticle around anal shield, and four pairs of lyrifissures. Peritrematal plates with one gland pore gp1 and 2 lyrifissures ip (Fig. 10), lacking any posterior extension, poststigmatic gland pore on soft cuticle. Peritremes well developed, wide, extending from stigmata between coxae III and IV to anterior border of coxae II or between coxae I and II. Spermatheca with distinct connecting ducts and narrow calyx, solenostome on base of leg III.</p>
            <p> Gnathosoma (Fig. 7). Gnathotectum triangular, with denticulate or smooth anterior margin (Fig. 8); hypostome with three pairs of smooth setae; deutosternal groove with six moderately narrow rows of denticles, all rows connected; gnathobase with a pair of simple capitular setae. Fixed cheliceral digit multidentate, pilus dentilis short and setiform; dorsal seta small, smooth and near dorso-proximal lyrifissure; with large transversal antiaxial lyrifissure; movable digit with fringed hyaline process at its base. Corniculi stout and acute at tip; internal malae slender, pointed, finely fringed, extending beyond anterior border of palp femur; salivary stylets thin and rounded apically; labrum prominent, blade-like, reaching to palp tibia, with pilose surface. Palpi with normal setation and setal ontogeny as described for Gamasina by Evans (1964), including only one seta on palptrochanter of protonymph; palp genu with six setae in adults; palpal setae simple; palptarsal apotele two-tined. </p>
            <p>Legs. Legs I-IV of moderate length, with well developed paired claws and rounded pulvilli inserted on well developed pretarsi. Ventral face of coxae I with two coxal gland pores. Chaetotaxy: coxae 2-2-2-1; trochanters 6-5-5-5; femora (2 3/1 2/3 2) – (2 3/1 2/2 1) – (1 2/1 1/1 1) – (1 2/1 1/1 1); genua (1 3/1 2/2 2) – (2 3/ 1 2/1 2) – (1 2/1 2/1 1) – (1 2/1 2/1 1) and tibiae (1 3/1 2/2 2) – (2 2/1 2/1 2) – (1 1/1 2/1 1) – (1 1/1 2/1 1). Some ventral setae on femur and genu elongated. Seta av -1 on tarsi II–IV enlarged and thick, tri-dentate at the tip (as in Fig. 29 a).</p>
            <p>Male. Dorsal idiosoma. Dorsal chaetotaxy, adenotaxy, poroidotaxy and shape as for female.</p>
            <p>Ve n t r a l idiosoma. Tritosternal base moderately narrow and shorter than that of female, laciniae free and pilose. Genital opening arising on anterior margin of sternogenital shield. Sternogenital shield fused with endopodal shields between coxae, with five pairs of setae and three pairs of lyrifissures, the anterior lyrifissure slit-like, second and third oval-shaped; margins heavily sclerotized and frame-like, especially between coxae III–IV; paragenital lyrifissures iv5 on soft cuticle beside posterolateral corners of shield (Fig. 21). Five pairs of opisthogastric setae, anal shield and cribrum similar to those of female. Parapodal, metapodal and peritrematal shields, ventral platelets and peritremes similar to those of female.</p>
            <p> Gnathosoma . Gnathotectum similar to female; fixed cheliceral digit with only one tooth and a short setiform pilus dentilis; movable digit with two teeth; hyaline process apparently absent; spermatodactyl truncate distally (Figs 13, 24). Corniculi thumb-like, with rounded tip (Fig. 23). Other characters similar to the female. </p>
            <p>Legs. Pretarsi and chaetotaxy similar to those of female. Legs of moderate length, shorter than those of female. Femur and tarsus (Fig. 18) of leg II with one modified spur-like ventral setae; other leg setae (apart from av -1 on tarsi II–IV, thickened, bi- or tri-dentate) simple, but many dorsal and lateral setae of femur, genu and tibia thickened.</p>
            <p>Deutonymph. Dorsal idiosoma. Dorsal shield without lateral incisions, covering the entire dorsum, usually with 23 pairs of setae. Setae s6, R1, R3-R5, r2, r3, r5, s6 on soft cuticle. Dorsal idiosomal complement of lyrifissures and gland-pores similar to those of female.</p>
            <p>Ve n t r a l idiosoma. Sternal shield with four pairs of setae and three pairs of lyrifissures; setae st5 and paragenital lyrifissures on soft cuticle at level of posterior margin of shield; endopodal shields weekly developed or absent (Fig. 5). Opisthogaster with five pairs of ventral setae (JV1, JV2, JV5, ZV2 and ZV3). Peritrematal shields anteriorly free, not fused with dorsal shield, one lyrifissure (ip1) on antero-dorsal edge of peritrematal shield; ip2 and gland pore gp1 between coxae II and III on soft cuticle; poststigmatic gland pores gp2 on soft cuticle, exopodal plates behind coxae IV well delineated, with gland pores gv2 posterior to them. Anal shield, glands gv3 and cribrum similar to adult female.</p>
            <p> Gnathosoma . Gnathotectum, salivary stylets, corniculi, deutosternal structures and palpi similar to those of female. Movable chela bi-dentate and longer than fixed chela with small teeth near the tip. </p>
            <p>Legs. Pretarsi, claws, chaetotaxy of legs I-IV and modified av -1 on legs II-IV similar to those of female.</p>
            <p>Protonymph. Dorsal idiosoma. Sclerotized podonotal and opisthonotal shields covering most of dorsal surface, and 27 pairs of setae; 11 pairs on podonotal shield, five pairs (r2, r3, r5, s6, S5 and R1) on lateral integument and nine on opisthonotal shield. Body dorsum with 18 pairs of pore-like structures, of which 11 (two on podonotal shield, one on soft cuticle, eight on pygidial shield) non-secretory (lyrifissures) and six (three on podonotal shield, three on opisthonotal shield) appear to be secretory (gland pores).</p>
            <p>Ve n t r a l idiosoma. Sternal shield poorly sclerotized with three pairs of setae; setae st5 inserted on soft cuticle at level of coxae IV. Glands gv2 present. Anal shield, adanal glands, and cribrum similar in those of deutonymph. Opisthogaster with four pairs of larval setae on soft cuticle around anal shield. Peritrematal shield as long as peritremes, short; peritrematal gland gp1 present between insertion of dorsal setae r3 and r5.</p>
            <p> Gnathosoma . Gnathotectum triangular, anterolaterally serrate; cheliceral fixed digit bi-dentate, movable digit reduced and edentate; other gnathosomal structures similar to those of deutonymph, except palpi with normal protonymphal complement of setae (see Evans 1964), including only one seta on trochanter. </p>
            <p>Legs. Legs I-IV with well-developed pretarsi and claws; protonymphal complement of coxal setae: 2-2-2- 1; trochanters: 4-4-4-4; femur: (2 2/1 2/1 2) – (1 2/1 2/1 1) – (0 2/1 1/1 0) – (1 2/0 1/0 0); genu: (1 2/1 2/1 1) – (1 2/0 2/0 1) – (1 2/0 2/0 1) – (1 2/0 1/0 0); tibiae: (1 2/1 2/1 1) – (1 1/1 2/1 1) – (1 1/1 2/1 1) – (1 1/1 2/1 1). Seta av -1 on tarsi II to IV modified as in deutonymph and adults.</p>
            <p> Notes.  Metacryptoseius differs from other genera of the subfamily with six setae on palp genu, tibia I with three ventral setae, genu III with two ventral setae, femur I with four ventral setae, J1 present and peritrematal shield reduced, in having dorsal setae J3 and Z5, metasternal shields bearing setae st4 and iv3 and deutosternal groove with six rows of denticles. The related genus  Cryptoseius lacks metasternal shields, iv3 is on sternal shield, setae J3 and Z5 absent and has eight rows of denticles in the deutosternal groove.  Scamaphis Karg 1979 , with 27 pairs of setae on dorsal shield (z6 present, r5 on the shield), lacks setae J1 and J2 and laterodorsal elements, has a deutosternum with five rows of denticles, and the shape of gnathotectum is different. </p>
            <p> Etymology. The genus name  Metacryptoseius refers to the similarity of this genus to the related genus  Cryptoseius . </p>

            <p>Diagnosis. Dorsal shield elongate-oval with irregular lateral and posterior margins, slightly narrowed posteriorly; dorsal setal length of adults and nymphs slightly variable; setae JV5 nearly five times longer than J5 and Z 5 in female; s2 approximately equal in length with z2 and slightly longer than j3; j2 three times longer than z1; dorsal characters of adult male like those of female, except JV5, that is shorter, nearly twice longer than J5 and other setae subequal in length. Sternal setae st2 shorter than distance to st3. Peritreme terminates between coxae I and II or anterior to margin of coxae II. Anal shield pear-shaped.</p>
            <p>Description. Female. Idiosoma. Length: 620–753, width: 483–516 (n=5).</p>
            <p>Dorsal idiosoma (Fig. 6). Dorsal shield 644–647 long, 390–411 wide, with striations antero-laterally, elongate-oval, with irregular margins and 26 pairs of simple and smooth setae: setae z2 (45) and s2 (41) subequal in length; j2 (53) approximately three times longer than z1 (20); j2&gt; j3 (28–34 long); opisthonotal central setae are shortest (16–18 long); longest dorsal setae not more than three times longer than J5 (16 long); setae on soft cuticle, r5 (ca 42), s6 (47), R1 (29), R3 (42), R4 (38), R5 (42–50). Anterolateral incisions of dorsal shield reaching to level of setae j3. Dorsal poroidotaxy and adenotaxy typical of genus.</p>
            <p>Ventral idiosoma (Fig. 10). Tritosternal base 33 long, laciniae 90 long; sternal shield granulated and reticulate-striate anteriorly (174 long, 130 wide at level of setae st2), with posterior margin almost straight, bearing setae st1 (41), st2 (52), st3 (51) and two pairs of lyrifissures, first pair oriented diagonally, but not always stable; st4 (55) and third pair of sternal lyrifissures on minute metasternal plates (Fig. 11). Genital shield (160 long, 101 wide at level of genital setae) as defined in genus, with convex posterior margin; st5 58 long. Opisthogaster with five pairs of simple setae: JV1 (48), JV2 (46), JV5 (70), ZV2 (36) and ZV3 (30). Peritremes 257 long. Anal shield narrow, pear-shaped, with rounded anterior margin (132 long, 101 wide); para-anal setae 32 long, postanal 49 long.</p>
            <p> Gnathosoma . Gnathotectum triangular, with slightly serrate margin (Fig. 8); subcapitulum typical for genus (Fig. 7). Hypostomal (h1, h2, h3) and capitular setae simple and smooth, 23, 39, 20 and 20 long respectively. Corniculi wide and stout, 36–38 long. Chelicerae 174 long and 37 wide, with movable digit (63 long from tip to base) longer than fixed digit (44 long from tip to the dorsal lyrifissure) (Fig. 9). </p>
            <p>Legs. Leg chaetotaxy typical for genus; av -1 (18 long) thickened and three dentate apically; legs I–IV lengths, 461, 404, 413 and 532 respectively.</p>
            <p>Male. Idiosoma. Length: 609–639, width: 425–446 (n=3).</p>
            <p>Dorsal idiosoma (Fig. 12). Dorsal shield 593–620 long, 360–382 wide. Dorsal characters similar to female, but lengths of setae vary, setae S4 are off shield; podonotal setae 23–32 long (except z1 =12, j1 =19, z2 =46&gt; s2= 32); opisthonotal setae 14–27 long; J5 14 long.</p>
            <p>Ventral idiosoma. Tritosternal base shorter than that of female (19 long), laciniae 94 long; sternogenital shield (303 long, 120 wide at level of st2 and 70 at level of st5) with anterior half reticulate, remainder evenly granulate, except area between setae st5 which is finely punctate, with setae st1, st2, st3, st4, st5 thickened (38, 37, 39, 34, 37 long respectively) and three pairs of lyrifissures; genital opening 31 wide. Peritremes longer than those of female (270 long). Ventral adenotaxy and poroidotaxy as in female; JV5 (36–39 long) shorter than those of female, almost twice J5; ventral setae JV1 (30) and JV2 (33) longer than ZV2 (24) and ZV3 (13 long); anal shield pear-shaped, 130 long and 111 wide.</p>
            <p> Gnathosoma . Curniculi with rounded tips (Fig. 14); chelicera 157 long, 40 width; fixed chela 29 long, movable chela 52 long; spermatodactyl 18 long (Fig. 13). </p>
            <p>Legs. Chaetotaxy typical of genus. Tarsal seta av -1 (10 long) approximately conical, bifid; tarsal seta pv -1 with basal third broad and rest very slender (Fig. 15). Length of legs I-IV, 385, 385, 400 and 470 respectively.</p>
            <p>Deutonymph. Idiosoma. Length: 471–523, width: 323–349 (n=4).</p>
            <p>Dorsal idiosoma (Fig. 4). Dorsal shield (465–483 length, 259–271 width) finely punctate, with 24 pairs of setae; setae j1-j 6 18-25 long; setae z1 11 long, z 2 16-22, z4, z5, s2 and s4 16 and s5 19 long; soft cuticle with setae r2 = r3 = r5 = s6 (26 long) in podonotal region and setae R1 (10-19), R3-R5 (16) and sometimes S4 (16) in opisthonotal region; setae on opisthonotal region 12-13 long (setae J and Z) and 20 long (setae S).</p>
            <p>Ventral idiosoma (Fig. 5). Tritosternal base ca 39 long, laciniae ca 65 long; sternal shield with four pairs of setae (st1 = st2 = st3, 35-36 long and st4 25 long), three pairs of lyrifissures; setae st5 (22 long) and paragenital lyrifissures iv5 inserted on soft cuticle at level of posterior margin of the shield. Endopodal shields present between coxae II-III and coxae III-IV present. Opisthogaster with five pairs of ventral setae JV1 (29), JV2 (22), JV5 (28), ZV2 (18) and ZV3 (16). Peritreme extending to posterior margin of coxae I, 247 long; peritrematal shield originating opposite middle of coxae I, with ip1 on anterior edge of peritrematal shield and glands gp1 situated mediad to peritreme, between coxae II and III; poststigmatic glands gp2 on soft cuticle. Anal shield subtriangular (81 long, 101 wide).</p>
            <p> Gnathosoma . Gnathotectum, subcapitulum and deutosternum typical of genus; corniculi with pointed tips and wide bases; movable digit of chelicerae 45 long, fixed digit (from dorsal lyrifissure) 32 long. </p>
            <p>Legs. Pretarsi, claws, and chaetotaxy of legs I-IV as those of adult female. Length of legs I-IV: 361, 318, 333 and 376 respectively. Seta av -1 (14 long) on tarsi II-IV modified like in female.</p>
            <p>Protonymph. Idiosoma. Length: 510, width: 293.</p>
            <p>Dorsal idiosoma (Fig. 1). Dorsum with sclerotized podonotal (294 long, 258 wide) and opisthonotal (161 long, 242 wide) shields with punctate cuticle. Central opisthonotal setae ca 10 long; other dorsal setae longer (14–19 long).</p>
            <p>Ventral idiosoma (Fig. 2). Tritosternum with smooth base (46 long) and free pilose laciniae (61 long). Sternal shield with indistinct outline; setae st1, st2, st3 smooth, 20–22 long; st5 14 long; ventral setae with larval complement of smooth setae JV1, JV2, JV5 and ZV2 (14–20 long); pores gv2 close to posterior margin of coxa IV. Anal shield (74 long, 56 wide) pear-shaped, with rounded anterior margins; circum-anal setae as other ventral setae. Peritreme (43 long) and peritrematal shield short and extending to posterior margin of coxae III or anterior margin of coxae IV.</p>
            <p> Gnathosoma . Gnathotectum triangular, serrate (Fig. 3); length of chelicera 93, width 32; fixed chela 24 long; movable chela 35 long. </p>
            <p>Legs. Leg chaetotaxy typical of genus. Seta av -1 (10 long) on tarsi II–IV modified. Length of legs I, II, III and IV 285, 242, 251 and 279 respectively.</p>
            <p> Material examined. Holotype. Female. NE Iran, North Khorasan province, Esfarayen (36º 55' 29" N, 57º 44' 08" E), altitude 1,471 m, ex  Scarabaeus transcaspicus , 26 June 2007 [deposited in Acarological Collection, Department of Entomology, Faculty of Agriculture, Tarbiat Modares University, Tehran, Iran (AETMU)]. Paratypes. 27 females, 7 males, 14 deutonymphs, 1 protonymph, same locality and host data as holotype (deposited in AETMU); 2 females, 1 male, 1 deutonymph, same data as holotype [deposited in Museum of Zoology, Navarra University, Pamplona, Spain (MZUNAV)]; 2 females: NE Iran, Razavi Khorasan province, Sarakhs, Bazangan Lake (36º 18' 549" N, 60º 29' 061" E), altitude 858 m, ex  Copris hispanus , 5 May 2007 (deposited in AETMU); 31 females, 5 males and 2 deutonymphs, same locality data as previous specimens, but from  Scarabaeus transcaspicus (deposited in AETMU); 1 female, 1 male, with same locality and host data as latter paratypes [deposited in Museum of Zoology, Tehran University, Karaj, Iran (MZTU)]. </p>

            <p>Diagnosis. Adult dorsum with 32 pairs of setae, variable in length; setae j2, z2, s2, s6, r2, r3, r5, R1, R3-R5 and ventral JV5 conspicuously longer, eight to ten times longer than J 5 in female, and more than four times in male; other setae short, opisthonotal shield setae shorter setae; seta z2 longer than s2 and about four times longer than j3; j2 more than six times longer than seta z1. Sternal setae st2 longer than distances between their bases and that of st3; male setae on dorsal shield (except j1, j2, z2) longer than those of female. Peritreme extends to anterior margin of coxa II. Anal shield subtriangular, with anterior margin slightly convex.</p>
            <p>Description. Female. Idiosoma. Length: 564–580, width: 370–406 (n=5).</p>
            <p>Dorsal idiosoma (Fig. 16). Dorsal shield ovoid, 549–561 long, 326–361 wide; with striations antero-laterally, otherwise covered with fine dense punctations; lateral incisions reaching level of setae z2 or s2. Dorsal setae j2 (84), z2 (98), s2 (71), s6 (72), r2 (81), r3 (79), r5 (76) and R5 (78) long; other dorsal setae on shield short (13–24), R1 and R3 (35–39), R4 (56) and sometimes S4 (11) on soft cuticle. Dorsal adenotaxy and poroidotaxy typical of genus.</p>
            <p>Ventral idiosoma (Fig. 20). Tritosternum with smooth base (35) and pilose laciniae (70 long). Sternal shield (157 long, 111 wide) finely granulated but anteriorly reticulate-striate, anterior and posterior borders irregular; with three pairs of setae st1, st2 and st3 (74, 67, 67 long respectively) and two pairs of lyrifissures, first pair almost positioned longitudinally; st4 (72) and third pair of sternal lyrifissures inserted on minute metasternal plates (17 long, 11 wide) flanked by endopodal shields between coxae III and IV. Genital shield 157 long, 91 wide posterior to base of genital setae, st5 (57). Five pairs of simple setae inserted on opisthogaster (JV1, JV2, JV5, ZV2 and ZV 3 48, 30, 113, 42, and 39 long respectively). Anal shield subtriangular, 106 long, 102 wide, with slightly convex anterior margin; postanal seta (52) longer than para-anal setae (30). Peritremes (239 long) extending from stigmata located between coxae III–IV to anterior margin of coxae II.</p>
            <p> Gnathosoma . Hypostomal setae h1, h2, h3 and capitular setae simple and smooth (21, 32, 17, 20 long respectively). Fixed cheliceral digit (40 long) with a large median tooth and 2 small teeth, 1 subterminal and 1 proximal. Pilus dentilis setiform and fine; movable digit (52 long) with 1 median and 1 smaller apical tooth. Length and width of chelicera 140 and 40 respectively. </p>
            <p>Legs. Leg chaetotaxy typical of genus; av -1 (17 long) thickened and tri-dentate terminally. Length of legs I–IV, 377, 342, 343 and 425 respectively.</p>
            <p>Male. Idiosoma. Length: 628–646, width: 400–423 (n=4).</p>
            <p>Dorsal idiosoma (Fig. 17). Dorsal shield 596–606 long, 342–361 wide, with shape, adenotaxy and poroidotaxy similar to those of female, except for lateral incisions which may not reach level of setae z2; setae s2, r2, r3 37–39 long; the longest setae on dorsal shield are j2 (63) and z2 (66); length of other dorsal shield setae relatively longer than those of female: podonotal setae 33–37 long (except j1 and z1 12 long), opisthonotal setae 17–25 (J5 =17) long; dorsal setae on soft cuticle: r5 (37), s6 (29) and R setae (17–23) long.</p>
            <p>Ve n t r a l idiosoma (Fig. 21). Tritosternal base 19 long, laciniae 84 long; sternogenital shield (273 long, 118 wide at level of st2 and 62 wide at level of st5), with setae st1 (36), st2 (34), st3 (40), st4 (34) and st5 (38) thickened (Fig. 22 a) as posterior setae on coxae I–III, reticulate anteriorly, rest evenly granulate, except for area between st5, which is densely punctate. Genital opening on anterior margin of shield, 38 wide. Ventral idiosomal adenotaxy and poroidotaxy as in female; JV5 (81) longest, almost five times longer than J5, JV1 and JV2 (Fig. 22 b) (28 and 31 respectively) longer than ZV2 (24) and ZV3 (13). Peritremes longer than those of female, extending to posterior border of coxae I (250 long). Anal shield as for female (105 long, 100 wide); para-anal setae (27) slightly shorter than post-anal seta (31). Ventral platelets present.</p>
            <p> Gnathosoma . Hypostomal (h1, h2, h3) and capitular setae simple and smooth, 23, 36, 17 and 18 long respectively. Chelicera 140 long, 40 wide; movable chela (50) two times longer than fixed chela (24) (Fig. 24); spermatodactyl 18 long; hyaline process indistinct. </p>
            <p>Legs. Seta av -1 (12 long) and pv -1 on tarsus II–IV modified (Fig. 18); length of legs approximately similar to those of female, leg I–IV: 385, 354, 346 and 438 respectively.</p>
            <p>Deutonymph. Idiosoma. Length: 517–537, width: 308–354 (n= 3).</p>
            <p>Dorsal idiosoma (Fig. 25). Dorsal shield ovoid, 462–485 long, 243–264 wide, with 24 pairs of setae; dorsal setae j1, j2, z1, z2, S2 and J5, 19, 35, 11, 34, 22 and 9 long respectively, other dorsal setae 9–17 long; lateral setae r2, r3, r5, s6, R1, R3, R4 and R5 on soft cuticle and 32, 34, 17, 38, 30, 26, 27 and 30 long respectively. Dorsal adenotaxy and poroidotaxy similar to those of female.</p>
            <p>Ve n t r a l idiosoma. Tritosternal base (30 long) and laciniae (90 long) typical of genus. Sternal shield with endopodal extensions between coxae I–II but not between II–III and III–IV, and with four pairs of setae st1, st2, st3, st4 (28, 29, 29, 21 long respectively) and three pairs of lyrifissures; setae st5 (21) and paragenital lyrifissures inserted on soft cuticle at level of posterior margin of shield. Opisthogaster with five pairs of ventral setae JV 1, JV2, JV5, ZV2 and ZV3 (21, 23, 48, 19 and 14 long respectively). Peritremes 146 long. Anal shield subtriangular, 83 long, 94 wide.</p>
            <p> Gnathosoma . Gnathotectum, chelicerae, salivary stylets, corniculi, deutosternal structures and palpi similar to those of adults. Chelicera 127 long, 44 width; fixed chela (34) shorter than movable chela (44). Hypostomal setae h1, h2, h3 and capitular setae 23, 34, 17 and 18 long respectively. </p>
            <p>Legs. Pretarsi, claws, and chaetotaxy of legs I–IV as in female; seta av -1 (13 long) modified. Length of legs I–IV 352, 318, 327 and 377 respectively.</p>
            <p> Material examined. Holotype. Female. N Iran, Mazandaran province, Galugah region, ex  Scarabaeus transcaspicus (deposited in AETMU). Paratypes. 8 females, 4 males, 1 deutonymph, same data as holotype (deposited in AETMU); 2 females, 1 male, same data as holotype (deposited in MZUNAV); 1 female, same data as holotype (deposited in MZTU); 14 females, 1 male, 1 deutonymph, E Iran, Razavi Khorasan province, Torbat Heydarie, Feiz-Abad (34º 57' 23" N, 58º 45' 18" E), altitude 895 m, ex  Scarabaeus transcaspicus , 5 May 2007 (deposited in AETMU); 5 females, E Iran, Razavi Khorasan province, Sarakhs, Bazangan Lake (36º 18' 33" N, 60º 29' 37" E), altitude 858 m, ex  Scarabaeus transcaspicus , 5 May 2007 (deposited in AETMU). </p>
            <p> Etymology. The species epithet “  khorasanicus ” refers to the province in which specimens of this species were collected. </p>
            <p> Remarks. Differences between this species and related species are highlighted in the following key to females, in which  M. guyimingi (Ma) comb. nov. is also included: </p>

Female with sternal setae st4 on soft cuticle and lyrifissures iv3 on posterior margin of sternal shield. Deutosternal groove with eight rows of denticles.</p>

            <p>Diagnosis. Adult female and male with 28–29 pairs of dorsal setae (17 podonotal and 11–12 opisthonotal), 19–20 pairs inserted on dorsal shield, three pairs on laterodosal elements (s2, r2 and r3) and six pairs on lateral membranous integument; setae j3, j4, j6, z2, z4, s4, s5, s6, S3, S4 and S5 clearly longer, can be 12 times longer than J5; seta JV5 more than 10 times longer than J5; setae z2 approximately four times longer than setae s2; dorsum of male similar to that of female. Opisthonotal setae J2, J3, Z2 and Z5 absent. Peritreme extending from stigmata between coxae III–IV to middle region of coxae II.</p>
            <p>Description. Female. Idiosoma. Length: 623–674, width: 414–476 (n=5).</p>
            <p>Dorsal idiosoma (Fig. 27). Dorsal shield ovoid (517–535 long, 302–324 wide) with posterior margin rounded; shield punctate, with a few antero-lateral striate; anterolateral incisions of dorsal shield reach beyond level of z2. Dorsal shield with 23 pairs of simple, smooth setae, heterogeneous in length; setae j3 (127–137 long), j4 (112–129), j6 (87–109), z2 (115), z4 (141), s4 (146), s5 (145), s6 (124), S2 (136), S3 (141) and S5 (122) elongated; j1 (27), j2 (39), j5 (17), J1 (present or absent) = J4 = J5 (11), z1 (13), z5 (12), Z3 and Z4 as long as setae J series; s2 (22), r2 (56) and r3 (45) on laterodosal elements; setae r5 (38–54), s6, R1 (38) and R3-R5 (66–69) on lateral soft cuticle. Dorsal shield with 20 pairs of pore-like structures (eight podonotal, 12 opisthonotal), of which six (three podonotal, three opisthonotal) appear secretory (gland pores) and 14 (five podonotal, nine opisthonotal) non-secretory (lyrifissures); poroid Rp3, idS4 and idS5 on soft cuticle.</p>
            <p>Ventral idiosoma (Fig. 31). Tritosternum typical of genus (base 40 long, laciniae 90). Sternal shield (142 long, 136 wide at level of st2, 175 between coxae II and III) with a dense fine granulation; anterior and posterior margins irregular, three pairs of setae (st1 and st2 37 long and st3 51) and three pairs of lyrifissures (the first and second diagonally oriented, third on posterior margin horizontally oriented) on the shield; st4 (54) on soft cuticle, flanked by endopodal shields between coxae III and IV. Genital shield 144 long, 80 wide at level st5 (64) located laterally on shield; positions of iv5 and gv2 as for genus. Opisthogaster with five pairs of simple setae, JV1 (42), JV2 (51), JV5 (129), ZV2 (43) and ZV3 (32). Anal shield pear-shaped, 106 long, ca 83 wide, para-anal setae 18 long, postanal seta 31; cribrum well developed. Metapodal and parapodal plates present. Peritrematal plates with gland pore gp1 and one lyrifissure ip1 (Fig. 31); poststigmatic gland pores gp2 inserted on soft cuticle; peritremes extending to middle of coxae II, 172 long. Spermathecal apparatus without distinctly sclerotized structures, but usually with a discernible tube from solenostome on base of legs III to a narrow calyx.</p>
            <p> Gnathosoma . Subcapitulum and gnathotectum (Fig. 28 a) typical of genus. Hypostomal setae simple and smooth, h1 (25), h2 (37), h3 (18), and (20) long. Chelicera 148 long; movable chela 50 long and fixed chela 36; fixed digit with a large median and two small teeth, one subterminal and other one proximal. Pilus dentilis setiform and fine; dorsal seta small and near proximal lyrifissure; movable digit with one median tooth, with fringed hyaline process at its base. </p>
            <p>Legs. Leg chaetotaxy typical of genus. Ventral modified setae av -1 on tarsi II–IV (Fig. 29 a) 16 long. Length of legs as follows: leg I, 452 long; II, 397; III, 416 and IV, 541.</p>
            <p>Male. Idiosoma. Dorsal shield: 465–503 long, 261–300 wide (n=2).</p>
            <p>Dorsal idiosoma (Fig. 30). Dorsal shield (460–471 long, 248–269 wide) densely covered with punctations. Dorsal chaetotaxy, adenotaxy and poroidotaxy similar to those of female. Lateral incisions reduced, reaching base of setae r2 or r3.</p>
            <p>Ventral idiosoma (Fig. 32). Base of tritosternum 19 long, laciniae pilose and free 64 long; sternogenital shield 250 long, 85 wide at level of setae st2 and 64 at level of setae st5, anteriorly densely covered with fine granulations, posteriorly, between setae st5, with dense punctuations, extending beyond the posterior border of coxae IV and fused with endopodal elements between coxae I–II, II–III and III–IV; setae st1 and st2 (20 long), st3 (22), st4 (26) and st5 (33) thickened; genital opening on the shield (21 wide), anterior to setae st1. Ventral idiosomal adenotaxy and poroidotaxy similar to those of female; JV5 (102) is longest ventral setae, JV1 (25), JV2 (23), ZV2 (20) and ZV3 (15); anal shield pear-shaped, 92 long, 62 wide. Parapodal and metapodal plates present.</p>
            <p> Gnathosoma . Gnathotectum triangular, slightly dentate (Fig. 28 b); subcapitulum typical of genus. Length of hypostomal and capitular setae: h1, 20; h2, 33; h3, 13 and c, 16. Chelicera 115 long and 35 wide, movable chelae with two teeth (43 long) and fixed chela with a median tooth and 35 long; spermatodactyl 20 long; hyaline process indistinct. </p>
            <p>Legs. Legs chaetotaxy typical of genus. Length of legs I–IV: 317, 300, 304 and 402 respectively. Seta av - 1 on tarsi II–IV modified and nearly conical, 11 long (Fig. 29 b).</p>
            <p>Deutonymph. Idiosoma. Length: 411–458, width: 288–326 (n=2).</p>
            <p>Dorsal idiosoma (Fig. 26). Dorsal shield (395–427 length, 200–231 width) with 21–22 pairs of setae; setae j1, j2, j4, j5 and j6 with 10–18 long, j3 longer (26); setae z1, z2, z5, s2, s4 and s5, respectively, 11, 31, 11, 13, 45 and 62 long; soft cuticle with r2, r3, r5, s6 (15, 15, 19, 57 long respectively) in podonotal region and R1, R3-R5, on opisthonotal region (18, 16, 14, 61 long respectively). Dorsal idiosomal complement of lyrifissures and gland-pores similar to those of female.</p>
            <p>Ventral idiosoma. Tritosternal base 29 long; laciniae 83 long; sternal shield (188 long, 63 width at level of setae st2), with four pairs of setae (st1 =18, st2 =21, st3 =21, st4 =21) and three pairs of lyrifissures; setae st5 (19) and paragenital lyrifissures inserted on soft cuticle at level of posterior margin of sternal shield. Endopodal shields between coxae II–III and III–IV, and parapodal present. Peritremes 120 long. Anal shield (81 long and 74 wide) pear-shaped, para-anal setae 19 and postanal seta 24 long; adanal gland pores inserted as in adults; cribrum well developed. Opisthogaster with five pairs of ventral setae: JV1, JV2, ZV2, ZV3 (15–18 long) and JV5 (61).</p>
            <p> Gnathosoma . Chelicera 107 long and 32 wide; movable chela 37 and fixed chela 28 long. Hypostomal setae h1 (18), h2 (38), h3 (12) and capitular setae (13) smooth and simple. </p>
            <p>Legs. Pretarsi, claws, and chaetotaxy of legs I–IV similar to adult female; av -1 thickened and tri-dentate, 12 long; length of legs I–IV, 300, 269, 258 and 335, respectively.</p>
            <p> Material examined. Holotype. Female: NE Iran, Razavi Khorasan province, Torbat Heydarie, Feiz-Abad (34º 57' 23" N, 58º 45' 18" E), altitude 895 m, ex  Scarabaeus transcaspicus , 5 May 2007 (deposited in AETMU). Paratypes. 27 females, 3 males, 5 deutonymphs, same data as holotype (deposited in AETMU); 2 females, 1 male, same data as holotype (deposited in MZUNAV); 1 female, same data as holotype (deposited in MZTU). </p>
            <p>Etymology. The species is named in honour of the famous philosopher, astronomer, mathematician and poet of Iran, Omar Khayyam Neishaburi.</p>
            <p> Notes.  Cryptoseius khayyami differs from the type species  C. petrovae Makarova, 1998 in the number of long dorsal setae in the j series in adults, four pairs in  C. petrovae (j3-j6) and three pairs in  C. khayyami sp. nov. (j3, j4 and j6) and in the relative length of several dorsal setae in deutonymphs: r5&gt; R1, R1 = 1/3 s6, S4 &lt;S5 = ½ S 3 in  C. petrovae and r5 &lt;R1, R1 = ½ s6, S4 = S5 = S 3 in  C. khayyami sp. nov.</p>
