Río Landayacu. 75 km al este de Puyo. Bosque húmedo Tropical. 01 ˚ 34 ’ S 077 ˚ 25 ’ W, 580 m, 4 December 1990, E. Gudiño 1190 (holotype: QCNE!; isotype: MO!). Paratype: — ECUADOR. Prov. Pastaza, Cant. Pastaza, 01 ° 30 ’ S, 77 ° 30 ’ W, 18 December 1991, Gudiño & Gualinga 1622 (MO!, QCNE!). Diagnosis (from Huamantupa 2012): — Large trees to 40 m. Branchlets, leaves and inflorescence ferrugineous-tomentose. Leaves with laminae 16 – 23 × 5 – 7.8 cm. Flowers yellow, 1 to 3 per cincinnus, the spurred sepal 1.2 – 1.5 × 0.2 – 0.3 cm, the petal solitary, about equalling the stamen. Differs from Vochysia schomburgkii Warming (1875: 78) by the leaves over 16 cm long, from Vochysia eximia Ducke (1915: 45) by the larger stature of the tree, and from both species by the petals equalling the stamens in length.
