The new species is somewhat similar to S. ornatipes Enderlein, but it can be separated by the black apex of the hind femur, wholly yellow thoracic pleura, vein M 3 absent, and the phallic complex with two slender lobes. In S. ornatipes, the hind femur has a wide, subapical brown ring; anepisternum is posteriorly largely blackish (except the upper border), the anterodorsal part of the anepimeron and meron are blackish; vein M 3 is present; phallic complex has three wide lobes (Yang & Nagatomi 1992).
