Seventh antennomere about 1.8 times as long as wide at apex, about 1.2 times as long as and equal in width to sixth antennomere. Eighth antennomere about 1.9 times as long as wide at apex, as long as and slightly narrower than seventh antennomere. Ninth antennomere about 1.9 times as long as wide at apex, about 0.9 times as long and about 0.8 times as narrow as eighth antennomere. Tenth antennomere 2.5 times as long as wide at apex, about 1.1 times as long as ninth antennomere. Eleventh antennomere about 3.2 times as long as broad at middle, about 1.3 times as long and broad as tenth antennomere. Pronotum almost bell-shaped, about 1.3 times as long as wide at apex, about 0.9 times as long as wide at middle, about 0.8 times as long as wide at base, without lateral pronotal carinae. Disc densely punctate. Elytra oval, broadest at humeri, about 3.4 times as long as broad at base, about 1.5 times as long as broad at middle, about 1.6 times as long as broad at apical fourth, about 2.2 times as long as pronotum, with convex humeri. Elytral striae absent. Metaventrite weakly convex, about 2.9 times as long as length of mesocoxal cavity. Metepisternum narrow. Abdomen convex. First ventrite about 1.4 times as long as length of mesocoxal cavity. Second ventrite equal in length to first ventrite. Third ventrite about 0.6 times as long as second ventrite. Fourth ventrite equal in length to third ventrite. Fifth ventrite about 1.7 times as long as fourth ventrite, covered by elytra. Legs long. Femora weakly clavate. Mesernobius anawrahtai Engel, 2010, from Burmese amber, was described as a primitive anobiid beetle (Engel 2010) but was subsequently placed in the family Scirtidae (Peris et al. 2020) . Benemerita burmitica MolinoOlmedo, 2024, a species described from Burmese amber, was classified as a new genus in the subfamily Dryophilinae of the family Ptinidae (MolinoOlmedo 2024) . However, it has been determined that Benemerita MolinoOlmedo, 2024, syn. nov. is synonymous with Amberophytum Yu et al., 2019 and it belongs to the family Cerophytidae, because it is characterised by the broad, acute posterior angles of the pronotum, the simple claws and the hypognathous head. The earliest documented record indicates the presence of an undescribed species from Barremian Lebanese amber (Kirejtshuk & Azar 2013), and a species of the recent Californian genus Actenobius has been described from early Albian San Just amber (Peris et al. 2015). The most diverse fauna, with five species, is found in Burmese amber.

Acknowledgements

The authors are grateful to the anonymous reviewers who helped to improve the manuscript.

References

Abdullah, M. & Abdullah, A.
