03C287CFFFACFFF0DDD470C1FC1BFEA1.taxon	type_taxon	Type genus. Pisaura Simon 1885. Diagnosis. The family Pisauridae can be distinguished from both Trechaleidae and Lycosidae by the combination of the following characters: the nursery web that the female produces surrounding the egg sac, and the egg sac carried by the chelicerae (Zhang et al., 2004), but these behaviors can also be observed in the representatives of Ancylometes Bertkau, 1880 (Santos, 2007 a). It also differs from Trechaleidae in the median apophysis of the male palpus, which is neither large nor distally situated, and lacking a dorsal embolic groove that extends distally into an apical groove and the absence of a ‘‘ skirt’ ’ on the seam of the discoid egg sac (Carico 1993: 230, fig. 6). It can be distinguished from Lycosidae by the posterior eye row not strongly recurved, and the male palpus usually with a retrolateral tibial apophysis (Zhang et al., 2004). The presence of the distal tegular projection (DTP) and the presence of a tarsal apical pseudosegment could represent possible synapomorphies of Pisauridae, pointed out by Santos (2007 a), but the latter is also found in Trechaleidae.	en	Cruz Da Silva, Estevam L., Carico, James E. 03C287CFFFADFFF0DDD47538FCA5F837.taxon	diagnosis	Diagnosis. The males of Thaumasia can be distinguished from those of Architis (Santos, 2007 b, fig. 2 A) and Tinus (Carico, 1976, fig. 8) by the well developed distal tegular projection and median apophysis and by the very long embolus (Figs 34, 52, 56, 76, 84, 88, 98, 111, 115, 125, 130, 140, 144). The females can be distinguished from the latter genera by the epigynum with a slightly projected and laterally excavated middle field (Figs 26, 44, 60, 68, 80, 92, 103, 104, 107, 119, 134, 137), by the slightly developed lateral lobes (Fig. 60, 68, 80, 92, 103, 104, 107, 119, 134, 137), by the conspicuous copulatory ducts (CD 1 and CD 2) (Figs 40, 45, 61, 71, 81, 93, 105, 108, 121, 135, 138) and by the small, rounded head of spermathecae (Figs 42, 62, 73, 82, 94, 106).	en	Cruz Da Silva, Estevam L., Carico, James E. 03C287CFFFAEFFFDDDD476C9FEAFFC99.taxon	materials_examined	Type. Male neotype, here designated, from Parque Nacional de Sete Cidades, Brasileira e Piracuruca, Piauí, Brazil [04 ° 03 ’ S, 41 ° 43 ’ W], 29. VI. 2007, L. S. Carvalho (MPEG 15589). Note. Since no original material of this species exists, due to the loss of Perty’s types after a bombing during the World War II (Naturhistorisches Museum de Burgergemeinde Bern and Zoologische Staatssammlung München (ZSM), confirmed by the curators Dr. Christian Kropf and Dr. Roland Melzer, respectively), we here designate a neotype from specimens collected in the type locality (Piauí, Brazil), which is within the area of its natural distribution, to clarify the taxonomic status of the species and for nomenclatural stability.	en	Cruz Da Silva, Estevam L., Carico, James E. 03C287CFFFAEFFFDDDD476C9FEAFFC99.taxon	diagnosis	Diagnosis. The males of T. senilis resemble those of T. oriximina sp. nov. (Fig. 152) in the rounded apex of the median apophysis (MA), but can be distinguished by the grooved apex of the median apophysis (MA) (Figs 30, 31), by the presence of a rounded, flattened area on the middle of the EnB (Figs 32, 33) and by the presence of a notch dividing the apex of the MA in two parts (Figs 30, 31). The females resemble those of T. oriximina sp. nov. in the projected middle field of epigynum (MF) (Fig. 154) and by the excavation on the lateral portion at the anterior margin of the epigynum (Fig. 154), but can be distinguished by the enlarged end of the second copulatory duct (CD 2) (Fig. 27).	en	Cruz Da Silva, Estevam L., Carico, James E. Thaumasia argenteonotata can be distinguished from all the known species of Thaumasia by the bifurcated median apophysis (MA) (Figs 34, 35) of males and by the enlarged base and dorsally curved ectal branch (EcB) of the retrolateral tibial apophysis (RTA) (Fig. 37). The females can be distinguished from other species of Thaumasia by the presence of a median septum in the middle field of the epigynum (MF) (Figs 38, 39).	en	Cruz Da Silva, Estevam L., Carico, James E. 03C287CFFFA2FFF9DDD47069FDD1FE31.taxon	diagnosis	Diagnosis. The females of T. annulipes (Figs 44, 45) resemble those of T. xingu sp. nov. in the shape of the middle field of epigynum (Fig. 137) and in the reduced head of spermathecae (Fig. 45), but can be distinguished by the fewer loops on the copulatory duct 2 (Fig. 45). The males of T. annulipes (Figs 52 – 55) resemble those of T. xingu sp. nov. (Fig. 141) in the shape of median apophysis and subtegulum (ST), but can be distinguished by the presence of a ventral branch on the RTA (Fig. 53, vB) and by the long and slender tip of the ental branch of RTA (Fig. 53). Condition of holotype. All legs, carapace and abdomen are loose in the vial.	en	Cruz Da Silva, Estevam L., Carico, James E. (2012): 3567. Zootaxa 3567: 1-64
