Records from India. ANDHRA PRADESH: Pudimadaka, Visakhapatnam (Waltair)—Rao (1970); GENERAL RECORD: Naidu & Rao (2004).
Habitat (as in Indian records). Marine, intertidal; medium sand, 30–40 cm below surface, between low and half tide level.
Distribution. India (Bay of Bengal); Japan (Kasado island as M. cf hexadactylis ); USA ( Florida, Hummon 2010).
Remarks. Nomenclature and functional role of the accessory reproductive organs as indicated in the original description should be revised in light of the recent literature (e.g., Kieneke & Schmidt-Rhaesa 2015).
