Type information. Australia, New South Wales, 5 June 1995, T. Lebel, MEL 2236384 (Paratype), 9 June 1995, A.W. Claridge, MEL 2236383 (Holotype).

Notes. Trappe & Claridge (2003) described Cortinarius debbieae based on morphology. However, our phylogenetic analyses based on type sequences of Cortinarius debbieae showed that this species should be better placed in Thaxterogaster .
