Petersenidia Lelej in Lelej & Yamane, 1992: 628, ♂ ♀; Lelej 1996b: 9, ♂ ♀; Lelej 2005: 70; Lelej & Brothers 2008: 45 View Cited Treatment ; Pagliano et al. 2020: 255. Type species: Smicromyrme fukudai Tsuneki, 1972 (♂), by original designation.
Diversity and distribution. This genus is widespread in the Oriental Region and reaches the Palaearctic part of Japan. Forty-four species are included (Lelej 2005, 2021; Williams et al. 2019b; Pagliano et al. 2020).
Remarks. Many species of the former Petersenidiini Lelej, 1996, whose systematic position is uncertain, are now placed in this genus ( Williams et al. 2019b). Of the 44 Petersenidia species, 22 are doubtfully assigned to this genus at present.
