In total, 60 carangid mitogenome sequences were utilized for this study. Of these, 58 publicly available sequences were obtained from GenBank and an additional two sequences, representing the two S. leptolepis lineages, were direct products of firsthand mitogenome assembly from this study. The information regarding these sequences was provided in Supplementary Table 1.
