Rubropsichia Razowski, 2009 View in CoL , Polish Journal of Entomology 78: 240.
Type species: Rubropsichia brasiliana Razowski, 2009: 241 .
The genus was proposed for one described and two undescribed species: R. fuesliniana (Stoll, 1781) , R. brasiliana Razowski 2009 , and R. santaremana Razowski, 2009 ; one new species is described herein bringing the total to four. The genus is known from British Guiana, Surinam, and Brazil. Adults are virtually indistinguishable from those of Chamaepsichia in facies, but Rubropsichia have an unusual development of the male genitalia in which the lateral portion of the gnathos and socii are fused into a mushroom-shaped, densely bristled structure that is highly divergent from that of Chamaepsichia which have a rodlike uncus and lack socii. The female of Rubropsichia is unknown, as is the biology.
