( Figs 1 View FIGURE 1 A–F, 2A–C)

Bracon pelliger Tobias, 1961: 664 View in CoL (as B. ( Glabrobracon) pelliger View in CoL ); 1969: 424; Shenefelt, 1978: 1579; Tobias, 1986: 135 (in key); Papp, 2008: 1749 (assigned to the subgenus Osculobracon ); Yu et al., 2016.

Material. Holotype: female, Kazakhstan, Karaganda Region , S Atasu (Zhana-Arka), Koksengir Mountains, on flowering Ferula caspica , 15.vi.1958, V.I. Tobias ( ZISP) . Paratypes: 2♀, same locality and collector, 12.vi.1958 ( ZISP) . Additional material: 1♀, Mongolia, Govi-Altai Province, 35 km WSW Bur-Nur Lake , 18.VII.1970, M.A. Kozlov ( ZISP) .

Diagnosis. Bracon pelliger may be separated from other species of the subgenus Osculobracon by the following characters: fore wing vein 1-R1 0.72–0.84× as long as pterostigma ( Fig. 2A View FIGURE 2 ); vein 3-SR 0.95–1.10× as long as vein 2-SR; anterolateral margin of second metasomal tergite largely desclerotized ( Fig. 2C View FIGURE 2 ); median length of first metasomal tergite (measured from petiolar tubercle) 1.5–2.0× larger than median length of second tergite; apical width of first tergite 1.1–1.2× larger than median length of second tergite; second metasomal tergite medially 0.50– 0.67× as long as third tergite and 0.95–1.10× as long as its sclerotized part ( Fig. 2C View FIGURE 2 ); ovipositor sheath 0.18–0.23× as long as fore wing ( Fig. 1A View FIGURE 1 ).

Remark. Based on the ICZN (International Commission on Zoological Nomenclature) (i.e., article 47.1) “When a species is considered to contain subspecies, the subspecies that contains the name-bearing type of the nominal species is denoted by the same species-group name as the species, with the same author and date; this subspecies is termed the nominotypical subspecies” ( ICZN 1999). Therefore, Tobias, 1961 is considered as the author of the subspecies B. ( O.) pelliger pelliger .
