Material examined. 1 female (CW 8.88 × 7.44 CL mm), station SDN30 , 13.i.2021 ( CCDB 7461 View Materials ) .

Geographic distribution. Western Atlantic— USA ( South Carolina to Florida), Gulf of Mexico, Brazil ( Pará, Maranhão, Ceará, Paraíba, Rio Grande do Norte, Pernambuco, Alagoas, Sergipe, Espírito Santo, São Paulo, Santa Catarina), and Uruguay ( Coelho & Ramos 1972; Abele & Kim 1986; Spivak 1997; Vieira et al. 1998; Coelho et al. 2008; Felder et al. 2009; Mendonça et al. 2019; Mantelatto et al. 2020).

Remarks. This is the first record of Hexapanopeus paulensis from the Espírito Santo state. The values of the BLAST query cover (> 92%) and percent identity (> 98%) were suitable for its identification, since our sequences aligned with other of the same species ( Schubart et al. 2000a; Thoma et al. 2009). Sequence accession number (GenBank): CCDB 7461—16S (OR501067) (present study).
