Mesosoma . Dorsal pronotal area punctured and smooth; notaulus complete, narrow, diverging posterad; metapostnotal median carina of metapectal-propodeal disc irregular, incomplete posteriorly. Genitalia. Harpe with medial-dorsal corner partially arched, apical margin with large excavation, dorsal margin straight, divided in dorsal and ventral arms, dorsal arm laminar, apex acute and diverging, ventral arm straight and setose posteriorly, apex posterior to apex of digitus; digitus with posterior margin smooth; aedeagus with apical lobe not gibbous to such an extent that dorsal surface is flat, aedeagal apex posterior to apex of ventral arm of cuspis, with two pairs of apical lobes, outer lobe apex anterior to inner lobe apex, outer lobe acute and inner lobe progressively narrowing. Female. Unknown.
Variations. There are no variations.
Differential diagnosis. This species is morphologically similar to C. quelatus by having the harpe with medial-dorsal corner partially arched, the apical margin with large excavation and the apical projection of basivolsella glabrous. However, C. tremembe sp. nov. differs from C. quelatus by having the hypostoma angled medially, the mesopleural epicoxal sulcus absent, the hypopygeal anteromedial apodeme absent, the dorsal harpal margin straight, the cuspis glabrous, the cuspis apex posterior to apex of digitus, the cuspis apex straight and aedeagus with one pair of apical lobes, whereas C. quelatus has the hypostoma curved medially, the mesopleural epicoxal sulcus present, the hypopygeal anteromedial apodeme present, the dorsal harpal margin outcurved, the cuspis setose, the cuspis apex anterior to apex of digitus, the cuspis apex sharp and aedeagus with two pairs of apical lobes.
Etymology. The specific epithet tremembe refers to the indigenous people “Tremembé” from Ceará and Maranhão, Brazil.
