Apenesia laticeps Evans, 1963: 344–345 (male, holotype from Brazil, Minas Gerais, fig. 122, CUIC, not examined). Junior subjective synonym of Cleistepyris quadratus ( Evans, 1963) according to Ramos et al. 2010: 311, 313, 315.
Redescription. Male. Measurements (mm). Body length 3.68–4.16, LH 0.85–0.90, WH 0.90–0.96, WF 0.56–0.60, WOT 0.22–0.24. Color . Head and mesosoma black, metasoma dark brown; wings hyaline; antenna and legs light brown. Head. Malar space absent; median clypeal lobe trapezoidal; gena not visible in dorsal view; mandible with one distinct ventralmost tooth and remaining teeth indistinctly fused; hypostoma strongly curved medially; frons punctured and smooth; frontal line narrow and carinate; eye glabrous; anterior ocellus posterior to supra-ocular line. Mesosoma . Dorsal pronotal area punctured and smooth; notaulus complete, narrow, diverging anterad; parapsidal signum narrow; metapostnotal median carina of metapectal-propodeal disc irregular, incomplete posteriorly. Hind wing thick, jugum not fused with remigium. Metasoma. Hypopygium with posterior margin incurved. Genitalia. Harpe with medial-dorsal corner partially arched, apical margin with small, well-delimited excavation, dorsal margin outcurved, divided in dorsal and ventral arms; dorsal arm laminar, apex rounded and anterior to ventral arm apex; ventral arm laminar and sharp, apex glabrous and posterior to apex of digitus; aedeagus with apical lobe not gibbous to such an extent that dorsal surface is flat, aedeagal apex posterior to apex of ventral arm of cuspis, with two pairs of apical lobes, outer lobe apex posterior to inner lobe apex, outer lobe rounded and inner lobe acute apically.
Female. Measurements. Body length 4.20 mm. Color . Light castaneous. Head. Subquadrate in dorsal view, LH 1.00× WH, globoid in lateral view, height 0.79× LH; median clypeal lobe large, extending beyond the antennal rim apical margin straight with median concavity, distinctly long setae apically, median carina spine-shaped; frons punctured and smooth; vertex convex with parallel sides. Mesosoma . Dorsal pronotal area subquadrate in dorsal view, with straight lateral margins,1.60× longer than wide, with pronounced anterior constriction, anterior width 0.51× wider than posterior one; mesoscutellum triangular with concave anterior margin; metasternum triangular, with median sulcus progressively widening posterad; coxae dilated, especially the mesocoxa; protibia unarmed; mesotibia spinose; metatibia spinose. Metasoma. Anterior area of the second abdominal sternum distinctly divided and abruptly vertical, tergum longer than wide.
Material examined. Type material. Holotype, male: BRAZIL, Diamantina, Minas Gerais, 14-18.Nov.1919 (Cornell Univ. Exped) (CU[IC] Nº 3881). Revised material. Female : BRAZIL, Distrito Federal: Brasília (Reserva Ecológica do IBGE, 15°55'58''S, 47°51'02''W), campo limpo, Malaise [trap], 18-25.xi.1982. New material. Distribution. Brazil (Amazonas, Distrito Federal, Espírito Santo, Minas Gerais, Piauí).
Remarks. This species was recorded from Amazonas, Distrito Federal, Espírito Santo and Minas Gerais and for the first time this species is recorded from Piauí, Brazil.
