21. Noctuinae View in CoL are mainly characterized by the resting position in which the forewing costa are parallel and the wings are held horizontally ‘rooflike’ ( Holloway 1989). The trifine hair pencil is often lacking; the foretibia are spined, with three to four spines on the underside of mid and hind tarsal segment. The larval skin can be smooth, granulose, or even spiny. The spinneret is usually broadwith a length twice the width; the dorsal lip is often fringed. In case of female genitalia, signa are often absent from the corpus bursae.
