Characterisation of the species group

The facies of the taxa of this species group are confusingly similar to those of the M. monofascia complex, featuring a well-developed, blackish, broad-based triangular medio-costal patch and a variably developed medial fascia of the forewing. The shared diagnostic male genitalia characters of the species group are the relatively narrow, elongate, apically evenly rounded valva, the variably long, apically pointed harpe and the variably long aedeagus possessing a characteristic rounded carina with a small subapical ventral tooth. In the female genitalia, the species of this complex display a very short sclerotised sinus vaginalis, a heavily sclerotised distal section of the ductus bursae and a single, short and rounded signum bursae accompanied distally by a longitudinal scobinated band.
