Genetic information. This species has been assigned the BIN URI: BOLD AEG5922. The intraspecific divergence calculated from three samples is 0.15–0.31%. The closest relative of M. dananae is M. baaka sp. n. with a PWD of 3.15–3.31%. Meganola bispermutata bispermutata and M. bispermutata cryptochra diverge from M. dananae by 3.80–4.19% and 3.80–4.28%, respectively.

Taxonomic note. Owing to the then-lack of DNA barcodes, László (2020) erroneously illustrated the male of M. pachygrapha as the male of M. dananae . The correct matching of the males and females of these species was clarified by the DNA barcode analyses during this study, and the confirmed male and female genitalia are illustrated under Figs 111–112 View Figures 111–119 , 152 View Figures 152–159 .

Distribution. Meganola dananae is a west African species with confirmed records from Côte d’Ivoire ( Hacker et al. 2012) and Guinea (present study).
