Zeugopterus punctatus (Bloch, 1787) View in CoL , was doubtfully reported for the Mediterranean coast of Spain by De Buen (1935). This record is erroneous according to Tortonese (1975) and considered doubtful by Nielsen (1979). An old specimen from Valencia ( Spain) held in the Museo Nacional de Ciencias Naturales, Madrid was studied by Matallanas (1984), but this specimen is not provided with precise data of capture.
