This rarely seen eucnemid species was previously recorded from British Columbia and Ontario in Canada. In the United States, S. scabrosus has been collected from Alabama, California, Colorado, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Maine, Maryland, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Oklahoma, Oregon, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, Washington, and Wisconsin ( Muona 2000; Otto 2022b; Otto and Karns 2017). It is reported here as a new state record for Kentucky.
