Hyman (1962, as Geoplana quinquestriata sp. n.: 11–14, fig. 14; PANAMA: Barro Colorado Island)

External diagnosis ( Hyman 1962). About 55 mm long and 5 mm wide, broad and flat. Dorsum yellowish with a black median line, a lateral black stripe on each side, and marginal gray bands that encircle both ends. Eyes surrounding the anterior end in a single row and, after some millimeters, enter the marginal bands and seem to continue in a narrow band that ceases before the level of the pharynx. Mouth about 30 mm from the anterior end ( Figure 12a View FIGURE 12 ).

Remarks. A common morphospecies in Panama agrees relatively well with Hyman’s (1962) description, except for the color, which is browner ( Figure 12b View FIGURE 12 ), but this may be the result of N. quinquestriata being described based on preserved specimens.
