Distribution. Sabah ( Merrill, 1929b); Brunei ( Burtt, 1997).

Notes. In the introduction to the account that includes the description of Cyrtandra elmeri ( Merrill, 1929a) , Merrill commented that the ‘actual types’ of the species described by him based on Elmer’s collections from Borneo were deposited in the Philippine Bureau of Science Herbarium ( PNH), with isotypes in the University of California Herbarium (UC). It is assumed that the ‘actual type’ or holotype at PNH was destroyed in the Second World War (Thiers, continuously updated), so the specimen at UC, which has fruits, is selected here as the lectotype .
