Distribution. Sabah ( Merrill, 1923a; Burtt, 1970; Beaman et al., 2001).

Notes. This name was synonymised under Cyrtandra areolata when that name was first recombined in Cyrtandra ( Burtt, 1970) but was later treated as a distinct species by Beaman et al. (2001). The new circumscriptions were supported by Hilliard and Burtt based on annotated specimens in the E herbarium (Atkins, personal observation).

Merrill (1923a) did not specify a herbarium when selecting a type for this species. The sheet in K is chosen here as the lectotype as it has both fruits and a flower and a good length of stem, showing the position of the inflorescences.
