2007: Plagiopyla nyctotherus Poljansky & Golikova, 1959 – Jankowski, Russian Acad. Sci. , p. 792 (revision).

Improved diagnosis ( Fig. 18N): Body length 79–120 µm, body width 46–83 µm. Somatic kineties: about 70. Striated band not detected, apparently absent. One ovoid macronucleus (Ø about 35.6 ± 1.3 µm) and a single, compact-type micronucleus. One contractile vacuole. Cytoproct not described. Extrusomes not detected, apparently absent.

Typelocality/ecologyanddistribution: Endocommensal of Strongylocentrotus droebachiensis . Found in Dalnie Zelenci, Russia, along the coastline of the Barents Sea ( Poljansky & Golikova, 1959).
