2000: Pseudoplagiopyla sinistra Small & Lynn, 1985 – Lynn & Small, Soc. Protozool., p. 578; fig 6 (guide).

Diagnosis ( Fig. 17C): Body length 83 µm (estimated), body width 27 µm (estimated), after staining. Tubular part of oral cavity extending directly backward. Number of somatic kineties estimated around 48. Striated band not discussed, but presumably present according to the taxonomic key provided by the authors. One dumb-bell-shaped macronucleus (estimated size: 29 × 8–14 µm) and a single micronucleus. Contractile vacuole, cytoproct, and extrusomes not discussed.
