Remarks. As discussed in Guerrero (2001) and shown on Bezark (2024), the primary types of both Trichrous jaegeri Chevrolat and Trichrous bicolor Fisher show no structural differences. Both were collected from Hispaniola: Trichrous bicolor was collected from Port-au-Prince, Haiti and Trichrous jaegeri was collected from “Santo Domingo”. The only apparent differences are that the scape of the syntype of T. jaegeri is dark brown to black and the scape of the holotype of T. bicolor is red and the tibiae of T. jaegeri appear dark while those of T. bicolor appear at least partially red. Since this coloration is known to be variable in other species of Dichophyiini , I propose that the species concept should be broadened to encompass the variation and that T. bicolor Fisher and its replacement name, T. fisheri Monné and Giesbert , are new synonyms of T. jaegeri Chevrolat. It is possible that upon further revisionary work in this group, other species (such as the Cuban T. brevicornis Zayas and the Bahamian T. prasinus Cazier and Lacey ) should also be synonymized with T. jaegeri , and this whole complex would be better compared to Trichrous dimidiatipennis (Chevrolat) which could ultimately be the senior name for all these species, but that is beyond the scope of this paper which is focused on Hispaniolan species.
