Diagnosis. Antenna II basal flagellum fused, much shorter than peduncle. Gnathopod II longer than gnathopod I, with coxal gill elongated. Pereopods V–VI with dilated bases. Pereopod VII basis expanded, progressively wider towards posterodistal corner. Uropod III extremely long, inner ramus scale-like, outer ramus with two articles and second article long. Telson cleft nearly to basis.
Type species. Niphargus chilkensis Chilton, 1921 by monotypy.
