(5) Schellencandona mira ( Sywula, 1976) comb. nov.

This species was originally described as Candona (Typhlocypris) mira Sywula, 1976 from Poland to be later transferred to the genus Pseudocandona Kaufmann, 1900 by Danielopol (1980). Meisch (1996) provisionally accepted the latter combination, although pointing out the possibility that the species would rather belong to the newly erected genus Schellencandona . From reconsidering the morphological characters of this species, in particular those indicating its close resemblance to S. insueta ( Klie, 1938) and above all to S. belgica (Klie, 1937) , with which it might even be identical, we here propose the formal transfer of the species to the genus Schellencandona . Schellencandona mira comb. nov. is so far only known from the original populations in wells of the Polish Carpathian Mountains ( Sywula 1976) and late Holocene sediments in Germany ( Fuhrmann 1988). The species needs to be redescribed.
