Type material. Holotype: GBA 1856/004/0012, SL: 12.4 mm, MD: 6.4 mm, Steinebrunn ( Austria), illustrated in Hörnes (1853, pl. 21, fig. 12), figs. 36A 1 –A 3.
Revised description. Small, delicate, somewhat dorso-ventrally compressed, with high, cyrtoconoid spire; apical angle 90°, decreasing to 40° on later whorls. Protoconch unknown. Teleoconch of up to five whorls. Suture distinctly incised. Early teleoconch whorls low, with narrow subsutural ramp, rounded shoulder, and subcylindrical periphery. Later spire whorl rapidly increasing in height, weakly convex. Axial sculpture of 14 prominent, rounded trigonal ribs separated by slightly narrower interspaces. Spiral sculpture of numerous delicate spiral cords including P1–P3 and indistinguishable secondary cords and threads. Two narrow, wing-like varices appear on third teleoconch whorl; tip of wing oriented in apical direction. Last whorl attaining 73% of total height; narrow, shallow subsutural ramp, rounded shoulder, moderately convex periphery, strongly constricted below.About 15 weak axial ribs and two prominent varices overrun by numerous, crowded, delicate spiral cords including P1 to P6 (convex part of whorl), ADP, MP (on siphonal canal) and undistinguishable secondary cords and threads. Fasciole swollen, with prominent growth increments, delimiting narrow groove. Aperture ovate, moderately wide; outer lip strongly thickened by terminal varix, with faint D1 and D2, smooth below. Anal canal deeply notched, extending into and distorting adapical tip of varix. Siphonal canal moderately long, open, narrow, straight. Columella strongly excavated, smooth. Columellar callus forming broad rim, erect at siphonal canal, adherent and poorly delimited above.
Discussion. Lindapterys Petuch, 1987 is a mainly Western Atlantic genus with Neogene occurrences in the northeastern Atlantic and the western Mediterranean Sea. Lindapterys poppelacki is the only record in the Paratethys Sea. The Neogene European representatives of Lindapterys were reviewed by Lozouet et al. (1994); an additional species was described by Goret et al. (2013). Lindapterys cf. poppelacki sensu Lozouet et al. (1994 : pl. 1, figs. 4–8), from the Early Miocene of the Aquitaine Basin, differs from the Paratethyan species in its prominent axial ribs and the well-developed D3–D5. Lindapterys alata ( Millet, 1865) , from the Tortonian of the Loire Basin, differs in its cancellate sculpture (see Lozouet et al. 1994: pl. 1, figs. 11–16).
Lindapterys cervantesorum Goret, Ledon & Pons, 2013 , from the Pliocene of Spain, differs from Lindapterys poppelacki in its subobsolete spiral sculpture, weakly constricted last whorls and much narrower anal canal. The extant Lindapterys soderiae Callea, Volpi, Martignoni & Borri, 2001 from Somalia differs in its delicate axial sculpture and wider wings.
Paleoenvironment. Shallow marine, inner neritic in vicinity of seagrass (own data, M.H.).
Distribution in Central Paratethys. Badenian (Middle Miocene): Vienna Basin: Steinebrunn ( Austria) (Hoernes & Auinger 1885).
