Byersalges talpacoti ( Č erný, 1975)
Hosts and distribution. This species was described ex Columbina talpacoti (Temminck) (as Columbigallina talpacoti ) ( Columbiformes : Columbidae ) from Surinam (Weg naar Zee) ( Č erný 1975). Later on, it was recollected from the same host from Guadaloupe and Guyana ( Gaud & Barré 1988), and Surinam, Colombia, Trinidad, Nicaragua, Hondura, El Salvador, ex C. passerina (Linnaeus) from the USA ( Florida) and Brazil, ex C. minuta (Linnaeus) from Colombia, ex C. picui (Temminck) from Argentina, ex C. squammata (Lesson) (as Scardafella squammata ) from Brazil, ex Claravis pretiosa (Ferrari-Pérez) from Colombia and Bolivia, ex Uropelia campestris (Spix) from Brazil ( Atyeo & Winchell 1984), and from the type host from Brazil ( Rio de Janeiro) ( Valim et al. 2004).
