Recognition and discussion — Marialva uniflora was proposed by Choisy (1823) with a brief diagnosis. The description mentions “axillary peduncle”, a characteristic that does not occur in Tovomita , but can be seen in Chrysochlamys and Dystovomita . No specimens were mentioned in the protologue and nothing was found in the herbaria examined.
