Recognition: Synnevrus barrei can be easily recognized by the red mesosoma. This is predominantly black in the other species, except for the yellow markings. Two males have each a yellow spot on the clypeus laterally, the third male has an all black clypeus.

Distribution: Algeria, Azerbaijan, Central Asia, Iran, Oman, Saudi Arabia, UAE ( Fig. 34 View FIGURES 33–36 ). The records from Oman and Saudi Arabia are the first records for these countries.

Remark: The species was formerly placed in Synnevrus , which was synonymized with Nysson by Nemkov & Leley (2013), and the corresponding species were consequently placed in Nysson ( Nemkov 2017) . However, we consider Synnevrus to be a valid genus and the species is again listed under this genus. See introduction for details. The specimens from the UAE were already published by Schmid-Egger (2011, 2014).
