Diagnosis: The species is unique among Palearctic Brachystegus in having a red antenna, red legs and in lacking yellow spots on the mesosoma.

Description of male holotype: Body length: 10.0 mm. Color: Black with the following parts reddish: Basal half of mandible, antenna, apical half of pronotum, upper part of mesopleuron, apico-lateral corners of mesoscutum, parts of scutellum, tegula, wing base, legs (coxae only apically), S1 laterally. T 1–3 with large lateral yellow spots, T 4–5 with narrow yellow bands. Wing venation black, wings slightly infumate. Clypeus and most of face, dorsal surface of propodeum laterally, underside of mesosoma and S2 with dense appressed silver pilosity, remaining mesosoma with more sparse pubescence. Morphology: Clypeus in apical forth with conspicuous edge, area under edge at right angle to basal clypeus surface, approximately as long as diameter of lateral ocellus.ACM with two teeth. Lower face with prominent median keel. Face, upper surface of mesosoma and mesopleuron with coarse, comb-like sculpture. Terga with dense macropunctation, punctures less than diameter apart, interspaces microsculptured. Metasoma with indistinct cross-carina. T6 laterally with dentiform keel. T7 tridentate, median tooth small and rounded. Apical margins of S 2–5 medially with long white bristles, laterally each with narrow and reddish lamella. Paratypes agree with holotype, one paratype measures only 8.5 mm.

Distribution: Northern Oman ( Fig. 33 View FIGURES 33–36 ).

Etymology: The species is named in honor to Dr. Jörg Schneider from Rheinsbach, Germany, a friend and insect photographer, who also accompanied us on a collecting trip to Oman.
