Calling song

A chirp with long intervals between phrases. The signal features short phrases lasting 0.142 ± 0.005 (0.135–0.15) seconds, with 6 ± 0 (6–6) syllables each. Intervals between phrases span 1.132 ± 0.259 ( 0.974 –1.518) seconds, with a peak frequency of 3.720 ± 0.022 ( 3.696 –3.737) kHz.

Collection site

EstaÇão Ecológica do Taim . Males produce signals between 10 PM and part of the night and can also be found in illuminated areas, on the ground, or even in crevices. The males were recorded and collected on 12 January 2021, at 10 pm, with a temperature of 20°C ( Figure 14D View Figure 14 ).

Remarks

The specimens were identified as a new species which the description will be published later. Although the specimen has a morphology very close to E. onthophagus (Berg, 1891) , the acoustic differences led us to identify it as a new species for which the description will be published in the future.
