Leptopus hispanus View in CoL ,

described by RAMBUR (1840) 1 from Granada (southern Spain), has a known distribution range that includes southern Europe [ France (mainland and Corsica), Greece (mainland and Crete), Italy (mainland, Sardinia, and Sicily), and Spain], northern Africa ( Algeria, Canary Islands, Libya, Morocco, and Tunisia) and Asia ( Afghanistan, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Cyprus, Georgia, Iran, Israel, Kirgizia, Syria, Tadzhikistan, Turkey, Turkmenistan, and Uzbekistan) ( HORVÁTH, 1911; HOBERLANDT, 1983; BAENA & VÁZQUEZ, 1985; PÉRICART, 1990; LINDSKOG, 1995; HECKMANN et al., 2015; DUSOULIER, 2021; CHITADZE et al., 2023).

The Iberian distribution ( Map 1 View Map 1 ) includes the Spanish provinces of (only the earliest record for each province is presented)¡ Granada ( RAMBUR, 1840), Madrid ( PÉREZ ARCAS, 1877), Cádiz and Valencia ( BOLÍVAR & CHICOTE, 1879), Alicante ( RIBES & SAULEDA, 1979), Córdoba and Teruel ( BAENA & VÁZQUEZ, 1985), Barcelona ( BAENA & VÁZQUEZ, 1989), Girona, Málaga, and Zaragoza ( PÉRICART, 1990), and La Rioja ( DOMINGO, 2013).
