Distribution
Mediterranean species. The northern boundary of range of C. melanopterus goes through Czech Republic, Austria and Hungary. Southward boundaries stretch across the peninsulas: Iberian, Ligurian and Balkan, and end in North African countries: Morocco, Algeria, Tunisia and Libya. In the east Syria, Iran and south Russia are the southernmost localities.
Remarks
The range of this species matches exactly the localities where it was recorded in exYugoslavia. These localities have the typical characteristic of the Mediterranean biogeographic subregion: Dalmatia, southern Serbia, and Macedonia. C. melanopterus was most often recorded on plants representing two genera, namely Thesium and Helichrysum . These plants grow in dry meadows, grassy places, and sunny slopes. The species was also recorded on Fraxinus ornus on Kozjak Mt. ( NOVAK & WAGNER 1951).
Considering the habitat type where C. melanopterus was collected in the adjacent countries, it may be assumed that it also lived in Montenegro.
