Taxonomic notes. Based on the study of a series of Psychonoctua specimens from various islands of the West Indies, authors agree with the position of Donahue (1995) on the consideration of all previously species taxa of Psychonoctua from the Caribbean islands as subspecific in relation to the species Psychonoctua personalis Grote, 1865 , in connection with which, new taxonomic statuses are established in this article: Psychonoctua personalis cracens Yakovlev, Penco et Naydenov, 2020 stat. nov. and Psychonoctua personalis ravida Yakovlev, Penco et Naydenov, 2020 stat. nov.

Subspecies content. The species includes seven subspecies: P. personalis personalis Grote, 1865 ; P. personalis benestriata ( Hampson, 1904) ; P. personalis cracens Yakovlev, Penco et Naydenov, 2020 stat. nov.; P. personalis jamaicensis ( Schaus, 1901) ; P. personalis lillianae Lindsey, 1926 ; P. personalis muricolora ( Dyar, 1940) ; P. personalis ravida Yakovlev, Penco et Naydenov, 2020 stat. nov.
