Notiophilus geminatus Dejean View in CoL
Material examined: DG: Castanheira Centro, 19.IV.2012, 1 female, DS, A. Serrano et al. leg., ASC ; Castanheira Sul , 19.IV.2012, 1 female, DS, A. Serrano et al. leg., ASC ; BU: Bugio Sul , 27.IV.2011, 2 females, DS, A. Serrano et al. leg., ASC .
Remarks: The species is known in the Mediterranean Region, reaching Madeira and the Canary archipelagos ( Lorenz 2021). In the past, some Notiophilus specimens from Madeira Island were incorrectly identified as N. geminatus , when in fact they belonged to N. quadripunctatus Dejean ( Serrano 1989). The adults run quickly on the ground, hiding under leaves or stones, when disturbed.
