Material examined: IC: Chão Norte, 28.IV.2011, 1 female, DS, A. Serrano et al. leg., ASC ; DG: Planalto Sul, 11.V.2011, 1 male, 1 female, DS, I. Silva leg., ASC .
Remarks: A species widespread throughout Europe, some countries in North Africa ( Morocco, Algeria, Tunisia) and Minor Asia ( Syria, Turkey), and reaching Azerbaijan and Canada ( Lorenz 2021). In the Macaronesian Region, it was only known from the Azores ( Machado 1995; Borges et al. 2022). The adults from Desertas match the description of this species very well, including the aedeagus morphology. The adult specimens were found beneath tufts of herbaceous vegetation. It is a new species record for Madeira Archipelago.
